Principal's Update
February 11, 2026
Hello Dayton Consolidated Families,
What a busy month! It always feels that way when we return after the holiday break. More events pop up on the calendar, and we begin talking more about all the things we want to do with students this spring.
We have had so much fun slowly introducing students to their HOUSES (vertical teams)! A few have asked- what about our BLUE, Panther Pride? It is still alive and well. We will ALWAYS be Panther Nation! When we were talking about making these vertical HOUSES- we didn't want any one team to claim the color blue. So we came up with other colors while incorporating our BLUE house onto the shirt. We still love to see our friends wearing Panther Pride BLUE each Friday. During the last few weeks, we have met new friends, talked about what it may look like as we work together this year, and watched as our older students have stepped into the role as mentors. The waves in the hall, the offers to help- have all been just a few of the positive results we have seen. We look forward to more adventures ahead! #Four Houses. One School. Together, anything is PAWsible!
As always, please be sure to check out below for more upcoming events, tune in each week to our Thursday newsletter, and follow us on Facebook.
If at any time I may be of help, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Kim Sampietro, Principal
Seeing and Being Seen at Winter Bus Stops
As winter weather continues, we want to remind families that snowbanks and icy conditions can create additional safety challenges at bus stops. Large snowbanks can limit visibility for students, bus drivers, and motorists, making it especially important for children to stand well back from the road and wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching. Families are encouraged to clear snow around bus stops when possible, dress students in bright or reflective clothing, and accompany younger children to and from the bus. Taking a few extra precautions during the winter months helps ensure our students are seen, safe, and able to board and exit the bus securely. To read more about bus safety tips, click below.

Read to ME Challenge
This month, we encourage the community to join our school in the Read to ME Challenge by reading to/with a child for at least 15 minutes. Reading aloud to children not only provides a bonding experience with caring adults, but the simple act of reading aloud to a child 15 minutes a day for five years results in 27,375 minutes of language exposure, which can put children on the path to high literacy achievement. Reading also builds attention span and emotional development, improves concentration and focus, reduces stress and anxiety, and stimulates creativity and imagination.
Snap a photo or short video (15-30 seconds) and post it with your challenge to others to read aloud for 15 minutes to a child they know. Use hashtag #ReadtoME and tag others.
