Article: Cross Country Meets
Raider Reporter Exclusive by Claire DeSorgher
Our St. Albans City School cross country team has had a great start to the season! They have been practicing since the end of August and have had three meets so far: their first meet was on September 25th in Williston, so a little ways away. It was a big meet (180 runners for the girls race and about 220 for the boys) with lots of schools we don’t typically compete against until the state championships.
Their second race was on September 30th at Georgia Elementary and Middle School. There were a lot fewer teams at this race but it was still a highly competitive and fast race for both the boys and girls.
On October 1st, the very next day, the SACS cross country team was on the course again, this time on home turf. We had our home meet with just seven neighboring schools and though many athletes were probably tired from the race the day before, they persevered and ran hard all the way to the finish line.
Next races for this team are coming up fast, they have a race at SATEC on Wednesday, October 7th and a race at People’s Academy on Friday, October 9th.
Wish them luck!
