Welcome! Welcome!

School is about to begin. Our entire staff have been preparing for our students to return to school to start what we are coining as "The Best Year Ever!" We have been learning, scheduling, cleaning, updating, decorating, and planning so that on September 5, our students will feel how important they are to all of us and to the communities our school serves.

If you haven't heard, Windom Area Elementary School has a new principal- Corey Barfknecht. Most people call me "Mr. B." I have been serving the elementary for the past 3 years and Windom Area Schools for 9 years. In my 20 years in education, I have never wavered from one idea: I believe in kids. I believe they can do anything and meet any challenge. This year Windom Area Elementary students will be challenged while being supported. They will practice skills in academics, physical activity, arts, and social skills. There will be struggles, but our elementary students will meet the challenge. We will help them build on new skills. Our AMAZING staff and EXCEPTIONAL students will work together to have "The Best Year Ever!"

Meet Craig Taylor

Craig Taylor will be joining Windom Area Schools as our Attendance Coordinator. He is from the area, a former police officer, bus driver, and all-around great person. Our office will still take your calls and emails for absences as usual. Craig's role is to ensure that families are aware of their child's attendance and to help families find solutions for excessive absences. Welcome Craig!

New Attendance Email

Windom Elementary has a new attendance email. attendanceelem@isd177.com is a place where you can send a note if your child will be absent, late, or needs to leave early. You can also continue to call in to 507-831-6925 Ext 443 or 441 (Ext 311 for Spanish)

New Policies, Updates, and Reminders New Policies, Updates, and Reminders

In an effort to best serve our students in a safe, productive, and positive environment, there have been a few small updates to our Elementary Student Handbook. Please review the handbook and remind your child of any important information.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Loop

For the safety of students and staff, please only drop off and pick up in "The Loop" on the south side of the elementary school. If you plan to walk your child in, you may park in the south parking lot and walk in with them. After school, please use "The Loop". Please do not instruct your child to walk into any parking lot alone.
