Principal Patten's Newsletter
February 5, 2026
Dear Onahan Community,
Welcome to February! We are so excited to share the latest edition of our student newspaper with you. Our talented students have been diving into topics they’re passionate about, and it is wonderful to see their creativity truly shine! You can enjoy their hard work here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LplAbNos3V39JZeY6Q_rJ_LODAbUTRTU/view?usp=sharing
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for March 18th, when Onahan will host our Local School Council Election for the 2026-2028 term. This happens to be the same day as our Parent/Teacher conferences. To help you get to know the dedicated parents and community members who are running, we invite you to a Candidate Forum on February 19th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. It’s a great opportunity to connect with our future leaders! Plus, stay tuned for details on our upcoming Student Forum—we appreciate hearing student voices.

AROUND THE CLASSROOM
Dinner and a show for International Night! Great food and great performances from Onahan and Taft students.
Kindergarten learned about Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel today. We then practiced being safe, creative, and respectful while collaborating on our own Sistine Chapel experience.
Here is a video of Scooter Tag in PE. Students worked on moving safely, following the rules, and waiting their turn. The students were very safe, and I would say this was one of the kindergarteners’ best classes. They truly had their listening ears on today and did a great job from start to finish.
Scooter TagWith the older student we are wrapping up our basketball unit with Scooter Basketball. Scooter basketball sharpens coordination and spatial awareness by forcing players to control movement differently. For example, students need to move into open space to get open and receive a pass.
