BCE Counselor's Corner
Hi students and families!
A little about me: My background is in social work, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have spent the last few years counseling at an elementary school in a neighboring district. There, I fell in love with supporting students, as a team with parents and staff, in building resilience, joy, and success at school. I cherish knowing that many of these gains made early in life will pave the way for greater success in the future.
My family has lived in Circle C since 2011, and we moved to Avana in 2020 when Bear Creek opened it's doors. My husband is John, and we have a 16 yr old son, Jordan, who is a newly licensed driver, a 13 yr old daughter, Jill, who loves her dance team at GMS, and our youngest is 10 yr old, Joanna, a 5th grader at BCE who also loves dance and play sports. In my free time, I enjoy cheering on my kids in their respective activities, walking my Goldendoodle, Lucy, around the neighborhood, and listening to a good book or podcast. I'm also learning guitar!
In my role as Counselor at BCE, my work will usually fall into one of the following categories:
- Providing ongoing classroom counseling lessons,
- Responsive services such as counseling individuals, groups, and responding to immediate needs, and,
- Consulting and planning with staff, parents, and the members of the community.
August's counseling theme will be Kindness. I will use this newsletter to provide ongoing information about what's going on at school and other resources and information you may find helpful. Please check in regularly to find updates.

*Below are some photos from my family's trip to Brazil this summer. The first is in front of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, and the second is of a cute pair of Marmosets, which are a type of monkey native to South America. These were just a tad larger than a kitten!
