Tiger Times - Week of November 2, 2026
Millennium Students and Parents,
Here we are already in the month of November. The weather out there makes me feel like I'm back home in Nebraska. I remember some years having to layer under our costumes because of the cold or even snow on Halloween. Hopefully the rain didn't damper too many Halloween plans.
Progress report grades will be coming out soon. Please be sure to check ParentVue for your student's most recent progress. Students should be communicating with their teachers and attending RTI sessions as needed. Remember, students have a choice in signing up for the RTI session they want.
Highlights for this week:
- Winter Sport Tryouts
- Girls Volleyball Play-in Game - 11/3
Upcoming Dates:
- November 10th - Pancakes with A Veteran 6:45 -7:30am
- November 11th - No School - Veterans Day
- Band Championship - November 14th
- Thanksgiving Break - November 23 - 27 - No School

AFHSD Culture of Voting: Our high school students are ready. Are we?
This year, we helped our 18-year-old students register to vote. Now it’s our turn to show them civic participation in action! If you haven’t voted yet, bring your completed ballot to an official drop box or voting location, or head to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Ballots must be received and polls close by 7 p.m.
How will you vote? Make your plan today and find voting locations and ballot information at Arizona.Vote. Let’s show our students how our community shows up!
What is Proposition 438, and why does it matter for our schools?
Prop 438 is a continuation of Agua Fria High School District’s existing Maintenance & Operations Budget Override. It funds critical day-to-day essentials, like keeping high-quality teachers in classrooms, maintaining campus safety personnel, and expanding career programs like Nursing, IT, and Trades.
Best of all? It maintains our current voter-approved funding with no tax rate increase! Without it, our district faces over $12 million in annual budget reductions.
November Read & Roar Challenge
Everyone who participates will be entered to win a Cozy Reading Basket! Encourage your student to stop by the library, find a book they’ll enjoy, and join the challenge! 🧡
Rennovation Updates (I haven't received this week's updated photos yet.)

School Hours, Attendance, and Tardy
Our school hours are from 7:30 AM - 2:15 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM on Wednesdays. Students need to arrive on campus with enough time to arrive to their classes before the late bell rings. Please be sure to accommodate entering campus through security devices. There will be lines to enter campus.
- Regular student attendance is necessary to provide the greatest opportunity for student academic success.
- If you need to call in an absence for your student, please contact 623-932-7200 Extension 2 and leave your student’s name, ID number, date, and the reason for the absence and it will be processed as soon as possible.
- Students who are late to any class during the day will be marked tardy. 5 tardies to a class will be the equivalent of 1 absence for the class.
- Attendance Appeals will be held when a student misses 10 or more classes in a particular course.
- An Attendance Appeal could result in the loss of credit for the student. Please refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook and review the district policy regarding attendance and tardiness.
Don't be Late to Class!
"The time you take to prepare shows the respect you have for the opportunity." - William Arthur Ward
Part of our Portrait of a Graduate is to prepare students to be responsible adults. This includes being on time to all classes every day.
Students who are more than 15 minutes late to class will be marked absent for that period. An accumulation of 5 tardies will equal 1 absence.
Consequences
5 tardies - Detention
10 tardies - Extended detention
15 tardies - Office referral (may result in ISS or OSS)
