Daily Devotion
How do we begin the day at CCS?
With a song and Bible teaching! We love our morning devotion time!
At the lower school campus, PK through 6th Grade begin the day in the gym with a song of worship, a scripture devotion, and the doxology. For students in the upper school, morning singing and devotion happens between 1st and 2nd period classes each day.
Some of this week's scriptures were:
- Malachi 3:10
- Numbers 14:6-12
- Numbers 22:28-31
- Romans 12:21
A Look Back at the Week
Surprise Blessing
On Monday morning we received a surprise blessing when the city road crew stopped by to fill in several pot holes in the carline alley at the Depot campus. This work is very much appreciated!
Read Across America Week
In celebration of the joy of reading, students and teachers had a blast this week reading and acting out favorites from Dr. Seuss.
Dr. Suess Inspired Accessories
Preschool through 1st grade students enjoyed wearing extra accessories in honor of Dr. Suess' Read Across America week. Hat day and crazy sock day were especially fun.
Extended Opportunity for Food and Clothing Donations
Junior leader, Elisabeth DeCicco visited the lower school students to announce that their time for collecting food and clothing donations through the Youth Leadership program has been extended through Monday, March 9th. Donations can be dropped off at either campus location.
SGA Planning
SGA officers and Mrs. Griffin are working on details for the Spring Formal. They have been working on small fundraisers to help pay for the venue. On Thursday they hosted a pancake breakfast. On March 12th and 13th they will be selling Coke/Dr.Pepper Floats. On March 19th they will be hosting a Bake Sale and on the 26th a Coffee Bar at the upper school. These little fundraisers are helping them meet their goal for sponsoring the venue and event decorations.
Chapel Visit
Lower school students welcomed back a favorite speaker at this week's chapel. Dr. Boyd always has an encouraging word from the Lord for students and faculty!
Lab Work
High school science students conducted some lab work this week with reviewing safety procedures and basic dissections.
Students Join Together in Prayer
Time to pray and worship together at weekly chapel services is a favorite and treasured time.
On Mission
On Wednesday, Senior Zoe Powell shared about her recent mission trip experience. Zoe had the opportunity to travel to Greece with her church to serve with a ministry that provides shelter and support for women and their children who have been victims of trafficking.
Event Information
Parents, family members, and friends are always welcome on Tuesday mornings for a dedicated weekly prayer time. This meeting takes place in the lunch area at the Beech Campus immediately following morning devotion on Tuesdays.

Purpose and Mission
At CCS our purpose is to further the kingdom of God by preparing students to impact the world. We feel one way to do that is by supporting missions both close to home and internationally. With our purpose in mind, we will not keep all of the funds raised for ourselves but will tithe a portion back. We are partnering with One30 and a mission group that will be making a trip to Uganda this summer. The group will include several students from CCS; their family will be assisting missionaries to educate local families about hygiene and healthy lifestyles. They will be taking hygiene products to distribute and CCS will be helping to purchase some of these items as well as give a donation to One 30.
Ways to Give
To make fundraising engaging, age-appropriate, and fun for our students, we are using a Fundraising Bingo Card. Each square represents a small action that helps us reach our fundraising goals. When families complete squares, they are working toward prizes and celebrating their effort along the way. We will send these home next week!

CHOOSE Act Funds for 2026-27
There are two application dates for the 2026-2027 academic year – one for renewing family applications and one for new family applications.
- A renewing family application pertains to a family with participating student(s) that received a CHOOSE Act ESA digital wallet for the 2025-2026 academic year. These families can renew current participating students and add siblings of participating students starting December 15, 2025, through the application deadline of March 31, 2026. A renewing family must renew. It is not an automatic renewal.
- A new family application pertains to a family that has not previously applied for CHOOSE Act Alabama; or a family applicant that applied for the 2025-2026 academic year but was either not awarded, or did not complete the award affidavit in ClassWallet. These families can apply starting on January 2, 2026, through the application deadline of March 31, 2026.
