The CVUSD recognizes May 2025 as National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, a time when audiologists and speech-language pathologists throughout the nation make a special effort to inform, educate, and raise public awareness of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
This month is also an important time to recognize audiologists and speech-language pathologists for their dedication to improving the lives of their clients, patients, and students by helping them communicate effectively. The CVUSD is so grateful for its audiologists and speech-language pathologists who make an invaluable impact in the lives of the students and families we proudly serve.
The CVUSD recognizes May as National Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness of those living with mental or behavioral health issues, and to provide the resources to assist them in getting the help they need.
CVUSD recognizes the social-emotional and mental health needs of students and families and is committed to serving our student community in these important areas. The CVUSD recognizes May as Jewish American Heritage Month, a time to recognize Jewish Americans' indelible contributions to our Nation's history, culture, and society. Jewish American Heritage Month provides an opportunity for people to learn about and appreciate Jewish heritage and reflect on the history and experiences of the American Jewish community.
The CVUSD celebrates May as Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to recognize the achievements, contributions, and history of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, and to honor the generations of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders that enrich our Nation and are instrumental in its future success.

On April 29th, two days before the start of National Mental Health Awareness Month, the Conejo Valley Unified School District received this letter from the United States Department of Education stating it plans to halt all future funding of the $11.3 million, five-year grant that the District was awarded in 2022 from the U.S. Department of Education’s School-Based Mental Health Services Grant Program.
The purpose of the District’s grant is to support and expand upon the mental health services provided to students across all of our CVUSD campuses, including the following primary objectives:
Addition of 19 new positions to support mental health services, including 17 Mental Health Clinicians.
Continue to create safe environments for students to access services, including the providing of funding to support the District’s ten Wellness Centers, which offer drop-in services, individual and small group counseling, workshops, classroom presentations and school-wide activities.
Professional development and staff training.
The District has begun to take the necessary steps to appeal this decision made by the federal government, which would result in the District not receiving nearly $5 million in expected funding to support student mental health over the next two years.
