3rd grade Tea Party

Third grade wrapped up their Classic Tales reading unit with a fun culminating activity! Students explored the theme of Hospitality through The Wind in the Willows and hosted their own “tea party” to practice proper etiquette and good manners. They also compared their experience to the wonderfully chaotic Mad Hatter’s tea party in Alice in Wonderland. It was a fun way to bring their learning to life!

5th Grade JA Bizz Town

Our 5th graders enjoyed a hands-on day at Junior Achievement Bizz Town! Each student took on a real-world role—from Chick-fil-A employees and bankers to the Mayor of JA Bizz Town. Students learned to fulfill their job responsibilities, make decisions, and work together as a team. It was a fun and memorable experience that helped build valuable skills in teamwork, leadership, and responsibility.

Ready Set Read!

Burton Elementary students excitedly participated in Utah’s statewide Read-A-thon! Our students embraced the joy of reading, challenged themselves to reach new reading goals, and celebrated the power of books and imagination. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and dedication to building strong reading habits!

1. Every School Day Counts: We know that families do their best to balance many responsibilities, and we appreciate your partnership in helping your child attend school regularly. Every school day matters!

Currently, more than 30 of our students have missed more than five days of school. When students miss school regularly, it can become more difficult to keep up with lessons, complete assignments, and stay connected with their classmates and teachers. Even a few missed days can add up and have an impact on learning over time.

We have several attendance initiatives to encourage and reward consistent school attendance:

  • "Blue Ticket" Days: On designated days, students who are present will receive a Blue Ticket, which they can enter into a monthly prize drawing. These fun incentives are designed to build excitement and highlight the importance of being on time and staying the whole school day.

  • Term Skateboard and Safety Gear Giveaway: Students who maintain at least 95% attendance per Term will be entered into a special drawing for a brand-new skateboard with safety gear. This is just one way we are celebrating commitment and consistency.

  • Family Communication: We will continue to partner with families by communicating through attendance letters, phone calls, and/or meetings when concerns arise. Our goal is to keep families informed, provide support, and work together to identify and address any barriers that may be making regular attendance difficult.

Thank you for helping us make attendance a priority. By working together to support consistent attendance, we can help ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and feel successful at school.

2. Yearbook Cover Contest: Once again we will be having a yearbook cover contest. For details on how to submit an entry, please see below.

3. We will be having our annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 30th. The parade will start inside the school at 9:00 and make its way outside by 9:10. Parents are welcomed to come and enjoy the parade outside on our west field. Please use the guidelines below when planning costumes with your student. Students who are not within these guidelines will not be able to participate or wear their costume while at school.
