- Please remember to send your child in gym shoes on their scheduled gym days. NO Crocs or sandals.
Information and reminders from Mrs. Tinoco
This week in Library we finished up our bus safety lessons with a special guest, PIGEON! (Thank you, SRO Mosely, for making it a fun, crazy and exciting lesson for the kindergarteners.) We learned how to be a kind friend and bucket filler both in the classroom and on the playground. They also learned a little bit about our Hobart Brickie football team. 🏈💜💛
- All ELC students will get to check out their very own library book next week! We have been talking about how to care for our books and that the safest place to keep them is in our backpacks. Please help reinforce this with your student so they are able to check out a new book each week.
- If you have any questions about library, please contact me at stinoco@hobart.k12.in.us
Information from Mrs. Tinoco
This week we completed our first STEM classes. Your child will have STEM with me every other week on Fridays. This week's focus was engineering. They had a blast building with different materials and practicing taking turns. We had students building towers that were taller than their teachers, showing off their muscles with the big brain flake blocks, creating monsters and animals with the k'nex materials and building complex structures like apartment buildings with magnatiles. They have amazing imaginations!

MEET A FEW OF OUR KINDERGARTEN TEACHING TEAMS
Hi! I’m Mrs. Metz! My husband and I are both proud Hobart graduates, and I’m currently in my 9th year at the ELC. Hobart is truly home for our family, and you will often see us out and about around town!
I’m a mom of two, and this year is extra special because one of my own children is a kindergartener at the ELC. Being part of the ELC as both a teacher and a parent makes this year especially meaningful to me.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, taking vacations, and spending our summers out on the boat. I’m also a big fan of fast food and energy drinks! I love being part of the Hobart community and getting to know so many of our students and families each year!
Hi friends, I'm Mrs. Cook! My husband and I have 2 kiddos. A 6th grader and a freshman. This is year 7 for me at the ELC and my first with Mrs. Metz. I'm so excited for this year! Some of my favorite things are coffee, working out, reading, traveling and ALL things leopard print.
My name is Miss Kelly this is my 6th year teaching. I sponsor Helping Hands club here at the ELC. Some of my favorite things to do are baking, playing volleyball, and spending time with my family and friends.
Hi, my name is Brandie Cohen. I am the aide in Miss Kelly’s class. This is my 13th year at the ELC. I have been married to my husband Dennis for 24 years. We have a daughter Cassie who is a freshman at Indiana University. We also have a son, Lu, who is a freshman at Purdue. I have 2 dogs and a cat. My favorite things to do are reading, hiking, riding my bike and traveling.
My name is Ms. Schiller. This is my 12th year teaching at the ELC. I have a son named Deacon. I love being a mom! I am a big time Swiftie and I love to read, hike, travel and play golf!
Hi! My name is Nicole Tamayo. This is my third year at the ELC but first year with Ms. Schiller and I am so excited! My husband and I have two boys, Christian and Zayn. I love baseball. I am a volunteer coach for my son Zayn's baseball team in Hobart. My favorite things to do are weightlifting and going to concerts.
Hi! I’m Ms. Swims, and this is my 6th year teaching kindergarten! I’m a proud mom of two amazing girls who keep me very busy with softball, school activities, and everything in between. I’m a huge Chicago Cubs, and sports fan and love spending time with my family, traveling, being outdoors, and making memories with the people I love. I love to laugh, have fun, joke, and bring lots of energy into my classroom. I’m so proud to be a Brickie and absolutely love being part of our school family!
I'm Mrs. Brinkley! I have been a kindergarten aide with Ms. Swims for 5 years. I have been married to my husband, Ryan, for almost 15 years. We have 2 kids that love sports, hunting and fishing. Our dog, Arrow, is a lab and she loves to swim in the pool and bark at leaves. I love to soak up the sun in my pool, plant flowers, play card games, fish and camp.
