Progress Reports- 10/3
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin the school year, we want to share that the initial progress reports offer a brief snapshot of your child’s early development. At this stage, we are still completing beginning-of-year assessments and establishing classroom routines, which take time to settle. These are all necessary aspects to start the year, so that efficient instruction can take place for the duration of the school year.
Throughout the trimester, students will be taught grade-level standards, assessed on their understanding, and their progress will be reported accordingly. These early reports are just the starting point, and will include more standards as students are further exposed to the curriculum.
We encourage you to stay in regular contact with your child’s teacher to receive timely updates and support your child’s growth throughout the year.
Thank you for your partnership!

School Information and Procedures
Attendance Matters
Students who attend school regularly feel more connected to their school community and are more engaged in learning. As a result, they are more likely to earn better grades and test scores and have greater chances of graduating and achieving postsecondary success.
It is crucial to start setting good attendance habits in the child's first year in school. Preschoolers who are chronically absent are likely to continue to be chronically absent as they get older in school. From pre-K through high school, poor attendance can negatively affect students socially and emotionally:
- They feel out of place
- They fall behind in their work
- They miss meaningful opportunities that can inspire their future
- They have a hard time working with others
- They don't see how school is connected to their future success
Students who are chronically absent are more likely to have low grades and test scores and are less likely to be on track for high school graduation.
Walker Attendance September
Below are Walker's Attendance rates for the month of September. We strive for 95%!
September Perfect Attendance
The students below had perfect attendance for the month of September! Great job families!
Notes from the Nurse
Hello Walker families! Please see below for a few announcements.
First, please take a look at the attached letter for parents. This will explain in detail when to keep your student home due to illness and the procedures to follow when doing so. With this being said, cold and flu season is just about here if it hasn't hit your household already.
Second, all kindergarten students as well as new students to our district should have an updated eye exam as well as dental exam. Please turn in these items as soon as possible so your student's health file can be in good standing.
In addition, Walker's Dental Day will be Feb 19, 2026. Student consent forms were sent home last week. Please take advantage and consider signing up your student(s). This is a free dental exam and will meet the registration requirement for kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grade.
Lastly, if your student wears glasses, please make sure your student has them daily. Part of providing a safe learning environment is making sure your child is prepared with all the necessary materials to be successful at Walker.
Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated!
