Arrival and Dismissal
A few reminders about our arrival and dismissal procedures:
- Please do not park in handicapped spots without sticker.
- If you are walking to and from the building to get your child, please park on the blacktop and students must be accompanied by a parent for safety reasons.
- If you are using the loop, do not get out of vehicle. This slows the line down and can become a safety issue.
- Please do not go through the middle of the loop as a shortcut.
- Please wait for pedestrians to fully cross in the crosswalks before resuming driving.
- For AM Kindergarten dismissal and PM Kindergarten arrival, please limit the time you are parked on the blacktop. We have recess going on near those times and it becomes a safety issue to have cars leaving the blacktop while students are out at recess.
Power Packs
This school year, we are partnering with New Hope Ministries to provide food for families in need over the weekend. If you are interested in this program or have any questions, please contact our counselor, Mr. Connell at JConnell@wssd.k12.pa.us or contact him via Seesaw.
Student Meal Update
We will continue to offer a healthy breakfast and lunch to students during the school day, but have returned to the previous system of collecting applications for households that wish to apply for free or reduced-price lunches. We still offer all students one free breakfast per day regardless of their family’s economic status. We will charge for additional breakfasts and all lunch servings. You may find additional information regarding the update here.
Parents who believe their child would qualify for free/reduced lunches are asked to fill out the proper paperwork through LINQ Connect or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Access to Social Services (COMPASS). Your child will still receive free breakfast regardless of paperwork status. You may find links to those pages at https://www.wssd.k12.pa.us/FreeandReducedMeals.aspx.
Additionally, the District is partnering with a new vendor, Aramark Nutrition, for school meals. Menu information is still being finalized. Please visit: https://www.wssd.k12.pa.us/menus.aspx for updated menu options.

Character Strong - Responsibility
Responsibility is taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. I hope you take the time to talk with your child about our focus word during the month of October. I look forward to seeing our students practicing responsibility this month and every month!
