A Message from Mr. Bentley
It is an honor and privilege to share with our community that Ms. Iliana Gonzalez, our dedicated Food Services Manager on the secondary campus, has been named the 2026 Educational Support Professional of the Year (ESPOY) for Sussex Academy!
Ms. Gonzalez has been a cornerstone of our school for many years. She works tirelessly to ensure that every student has access to healthy, delicious meals each and every day. Her leadership, work ethic, and deep care for students and staff truly reflect the heart of Sussex Academy.

National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month
We are proud to launch our 2025–2026 SA No Place For Hate Anti-Bullying Program, a K–12 initiative dedicated to ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful school environment. This program utilizes the ADL’s No Place For Hate framework, emphasizing prevention, education, early reporting, and restorative support. Students will help lead the work through committees, climate assessments, and social-emotional learning, with additional supports available, including counseling, reporting tools, and the SAFE DE app.
To launch our campaign, we need your help with two important events:
1️⃣- Please take a moment to review and sign the pledge with your student. A commitment to support our SA Anti-Bullying initiative to become an action leader in fostering kindness, respect, and responsibility to keep our school community a No Place For Hate.
Sign our SA is No Place For Hate pledge in English.
Sign our SA is No Place For Hate pledge in Spanish.
2️⃣- Unity Day is October 22nd. Join us on the national signature event for Bullying Prevention Awareness Month! To show our support, Sussex Academy will wear PACER’s 2025 Unity Day T-shirts during our district-wide assemblies. Order through our counseling department by Wednesday, October 8 (no late orders).
Payments can be made online through the school portal or sent in with cash. Unity Day T-Shirt Order Form

Sports Booster Info
We are so grateful for the families who donated to The Nest in August!
With so many fans coming to support our athletes, the concession stand is running low and could use more donations, especially 12 oz Gatorade bottles (blue and yellow), diet sodas and sodas. Sour chewy candies are very popular (Skittles, watermelon Sour Patch Kids, Nerd Gummy Clusters, etc). Feel free to bring any donations to the front office, to The Nest during any soccer or field hockey games, or order through Amazon for delivery right to the school: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1733W0WIIQ359?ref_=wl_share
