A Message from Principal Anita O'Neill
September 7, 2025
Dear Coyote Community,
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family and friends. The cooler, less humid weather has been a welcome change, and I know many of us are looking forward to it lasting a bit longer.
Although last week was short, it was packed with excitement. We cheered on our athletic teams, welcomed families to Back to School Night, came together for Clarksburg Day Lite, and celebrated our entire community at Cluster Night during our home football opener. The energy and engagement at each of these events was inspiring and a true reflection of our Coyote spirit.
On Friday, I shared an update regarding the fire alarm challenges we continue to experience. While our system is functioning as designed, an electronic glitch has caused it to misinterpret signals, occasionally triggering false alarms. MCPS maintenance teams were on site throughout the weekend and will return on Monday to continue troubleshooting. Although these unexpected alarms can be disruptive, we must always follow safety guidelines, which sometimes require brief evacuations. I truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work toward a resolution, which I am hopeful will be finalized in the coming days.
Looking ahead, we have a full week of instruction, athletics, and extracurricular activities. I am excited for the learning and growth our students will experience both in the classroom and beyond.
Let’s make it a great week together!
Warmly,
Ms. O’Neill

This Week's Updates
Refrigerator Curriculum’s First Quarter Documents Now Available
MCPS has introduced the Refrigerator Curriculum—a one-page overview of what students will learn each marking period. Designed to post on the fridge, these guides help families stay informed about key themes and texts, stay engaged in their student’s education, and, if needed, request alternative assignments if a text conflicts with religious views. See the documents for the first quarter of the 2025-2026 school year.

Out with Remind, In with Parent Square
You have probably noticed that you get updates from MCPS that aren't Remind messages. The district is transitioning away from Remind and will be using only Parent Square by the end of December. In order to make this a smooth transition for staff, students and families, CHS staff will receive training during pre-service on how to use the tool. For families, the only action is to ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in Synergy. Our weekly newsletter will begin to be sent via Parent Square not Remind by the end of September. Please see this parent letter for more information.
