Wiggin Street Parent Update
June 2, 2026
Better Together
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
As we close another wonderful school year, my heart is full of gratitude and pride. The final week of school was filled with memorable traditions, celebrations, and opportunities to come together as a school community. It was a perfect way to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and reflect on the many special moments we shared throughout the year.
We began the week with our Memorial Day Observance Flag Ceremony. Thank you to everyone who joined us as we honored the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. It was a meaningful reminder of the freedoms we enjoy and the importance of remembering those who gave so much.
Our annual Field Day was another highlight of the week! Students enjoyed an afternoon of teamwork, friendly competition, and lots of laughter. A special thank you goes to Mr. Evans, our staff, and 5th grade student leaders for helping make the day such a success. Also, thank you to Xtreme Air, LLC for their donation of Kona Ice snow cones in collaboration with Knox Foodies.
Wednesday morning brought a unique celebration as Ian and his friend Gilbert arrived at school in a fire truck! Ian won the Fire Truck Ride to School during the Friends of Wiggin Street Fun Festival raffle, and what an exciting entrance it was. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day and fellow students watched from the windows of the school, but as you can see it was still a wonderful experience!
The fun continued with our annual 5th Grade vs. Staff Hockey Game. This beloved tradition brought out plenty of school spirit, laughter, and friendly competition. Thank you to our staff and 5th grade students for creating such a fun event that our entire school enjoyed cheering on.
We also celebrated two important milestones for our students. Our Kindergarten students proudly graduated after performing a wonderful "Junie B. Jones" themed ceremony. We are so proud of all they have learned and accomplished during their first year of elementary school and look forward to watching them continue to grow.
Later that morning, we celebrated our 5th Grade Graduation. As we recognized the Class of 2026, we reflected on their accomplishments, leadership, friendships, and the many memories they created during their years at Wiggin Street. We are excited to see all they will achieve in middle school and beyond.
The day concluded with the 5th Grade Clap-Out. As our graduates walked through the halls one final time, they were cheered on by students, staff, and families. It was a touching reminder of the strong connections that make Wiggin Street such a special place. To our graduates: remember that no matter where life takes you, you will always be a Wiggin Street Kid.
Thank you for your partnership, support, and trust throughout this school year. It has been an honor to work alongside you in helping your children learn, grow, and succeed. We wish all of our Wiggin Street families a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer.
Warm Regards,
Christy Grandstaff
