Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2| WEEK 8| 20 JUNE 2025
This weekend marks the Feast of Corpus Christi is a joyous occasion that allows Catholics to publicly demonstrate their faith in the Eucharist, highlighting the belief that Christ is truly present among us. It is a time to reflect on the gift of the Eucharist and its central role in the Catholic faith.
Dear Jesus,
Body and Blood, we are grateful for the gift of your life and the way it strengthens us to live our lives.
Teach us to draw on the gift of your Body and Blood for energy, renewal, strength and grace.
May we never take the gift of your presence for granted.
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff,
Or perhaps should I say G’day and give a gargantuan shoutout to our fabulous Year 2 students who dazzled us with their Aussie-themed assembly. It was a true-blue celebration of all things Australian – well done to the students and staff who brought it all together with such heart and humour and to our parents for their work sorting exceptional costumes.
On a slightly less glamorous note, we’ve noticed a few cheeky slip-ups in school uniform standards lately. We kindly ask all parents and carers to take a moment to revisit our Uniform Expectations. https://www.hrs.wa.edu.au/families
Let’s show pride in our community and keep things neat and tidy – and just a friendly reminder: nail polish is best saved for the weekend pamper sessions, not the classroom.
I’d like to extend a big thank you to the 37 wonderful parents who joined us for the Pre-Primary Parent Help Induction sessions. During the session, we explored our School Code of Conduct and took a deep dive into the Science of Reading – a powerful approach that’s shaping how we support early literacy.
Now that these parents have completed their induction, they’re all set to jump into the classroom and be part of the magic of learning in action. There will be more opportunities for parent involvement in different classes next term as one of our key school improvement goals is to increase opportunities for parents to be actively involved in their child’s learning journey.
I’ll be taking some personal leave over the next two weeks. While I’m away, the wonderful Miss Dwyer will be stepping up as Acting Principal, ably supported by Mr Kinder, who’ll be temporarily stepping out of his teaching role to lend a hand. I know the school will be in excellent hands.
Lastly, I had the absolute pleasure of presenting a Board Commendation to Mrs Holly Butson this week. Her dedication and leadership, especially in championing the URSTRONG program, have been nothing short of inspiring. We’re lucky to have her on our team!
Thanks for your continued support – and as always, have an excellent weekend.
Kind Regards
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal

Cross Country Season Begins!
Training hard and chasing goals! 🏃♂️🏃♀️ Our students are gearing up for cross country with determination and team spirit.
📞 School Phone System 📞
Dear Parents,
CEWA have negotiated a new telephony provider for our Holy Rosary phone system. A great deal of preparation has happened to make this change as seamless as possible. However sometimes there can be technical issues and it does not go according to plan.
Today our phones were switched over within 30 mins. The next phase is on Tuesday 24th June when porting will be completed. We hope this will be between 7am and 9am.
If during this time frame your call is disconnected or unanswered please be patient and call back.
If there are any issues and we need to contact you, we will call from a school mobile.
Celebrating Our Angelico Art Stars!
Huge congratulations to our 3 amazing student nominees for the Angelico Art Exhibition! 👏 Their Bauhaus-themed paintings wowed us with bold colours, clean lines, and creative flair 🖼️✨
Ordering of Confirmation Photos
Dear Parents, this week we have had confirmed cases of Influenza B and COVID in our communitity. To try and limit the spread Boorloo Public Health Unit has advised that good hand hygeine and coughing etiquette is imperative. If you could go through the below with your children this weekend, we would be very grateful.

This week, the Year 6 Council Groups were busy supporting Holy Rosary and our community. Mr Scutti and the Environment Council have planted more sunflower seeds in the Veritas Garden. Miss Rees and the Pastoral Care Group are busy organising the PJ and movie day for the last day of Term 2. The Christian Service Group have done a marvellous job of filling the local Vinnies pantry and we thank you so much for your support of non-perishable donations. The Community Service Group love helping the teachers out in the classrooms.
Students are continuing to work through the Friendology program and parents are welcome to join the friendship community as per last week’s newsletter. Each week, I will post new link so that you can also grow and learn with URStrong.
- Language of Friendship: In this video, Dana Kerford (Friendship Expert & Founder of URSTRONG) will introduce you to URSTRONG’s simple framework for guiding children towards healthy friendships. Sit back and relax while Dana walks you through URSTRONG’s unique, kid-friendly language to teach friendship skills and conflict resolution!
The eSafety Commissioner is committed to supporting parents and families with online safety. Whilst nothing can protect our children like parental supervision and discussion, we are aware that more and more students have access to phones and devices that are open to use in social media platforms like tiktok. Whilst tiktok is restricted to those under 13 years of age, it would be unreasonable to assume that students are not accessing it. Please see below informative webinars for parents and for more information on tiktok, please refer to the eSafety Commissioners page https://www.esafety.gov.au/key-topics/esafety-guide/tiktok

It is the GRAND FINAL of the Senior Chess Tournament on Wednesday. Good luck to Sam, Aiden, Joey and Jayce on this marvellous achievement! As always, it is wonderful to see the high levels of sportsmanship as well as kindness and resilience during and after games.
Years 1, 2 and 3 can sign up for the Junior Chess Tournament until the end of Week 9, with the tournament starting in Term 3. Children who sign up for chess are expected to play. Lots of preparation goes into planning the rounds and it is disappointing for players when their opponent does not show up. Please support your children by explaining to them that once they sign up, they are committed to play. Practising chess with them over the holidays so that they know the basic rules is also a great idea. I have many chess books in the library to borrow and there is also lots of information online. Here is a link to a good website. https://www.chesskid.com/learn/articles
It has been a busy time for the library trophy! Congrats to 4D, 6C and 3D for their consecutive wins and for everyone remembering their bags and books! Well done!
Week 9 is the last week of borrowing for Term 2. Students from Year 1 up can borrow for the holidays.
We are excited to welcome our kindy friends to library in Term 3. Library bags can be purchased from the front office or online.
