A Message from Your Counselors A Message from Your Counselors

zoom_out_map

Students- I hope you are feeling settled in at Millennium High. It has been great to continue to get to know you and learn about the things that make each of us unique individuals with our different skills, talents, and how each of us is important!!!

Credits- A reminder to student to check Infinite Campus for this first marking period. This is where you can find how many credits you earned and your progress grade.

Missing credits? The next step would be to look at Schoology and see if you are missing an assignment, need to retake a test, turn in an assignment you have redone. And, of course, ask your teachers how to work towards earning the missing credits.

Don’t forget- Falcon Hour, Academy, Peer tutoring, counselors and teachers- All great resources to use!

From Ms. Manalo LeClair- On October 16th, Ms. ML will hold a CSU application workshop to help seniors who are applying to the CA State University system during academy time.

If any seniors need help with their college applications or need to talk through their next steps after graduation, Ms ML is a great resource.

Attendance Policy Review Attendance Policy Review

Regular attendance and classroom participation are essential to the educational process at MHS. Missing class presentations, discussions, lectures, demonstrations and laboratories can be detrimental to student achievement, grades, credit accumulation and the progress of the class itself.

Reporting and Excusing an Absence

When a student is absent, it is required that the parent/guardian either phone the Attendance Office recorder (510-594-2889) or send a note explaining the reason for the absence. If an absence is cleared by phone, it is not necessary to follow up with a note. Only the signatures of the parent(s)/guardian(s) on the student emergency card are permitted on notes. Please provide the following information: first and last name of the student, name of parent, date of absence, the specific classes missed, and the reason for the absence. Parents/Guardians must excuse their student’s absence within three days of the time they return. If an absence is not cleared within that time, the absence will be marked as unexcused. Students are not permitted to excuse themselves on the recorder or by note. Students who miss three or more days of school in succession must present a doctor’s note, if the absences are due to illness.

zoom_out_map

At the school board meeting on September 25, 2024, the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) proudly presented a giant check for $4,039,957 to the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD). This record-breaking grant represents a year of dedicated fundraising and highlights the incredible support from our community.

Funds were raised through the Giving Campaign, Spring Fling, Harvest Festival, Dress Best for Less, business sponsorships, and a bequest from former teacher Pamela Wells Rafanelli. The grant will fund classroom technology, phonics curriculum books, and playground initiatives.

94% of the funds will support the salaries of essential educators, while 6% is designated for curriculum development, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives, professional development, and classroom supplies.

PEF thanks all donors, volunteers, and supporters and encourages everyone to participate in this year’s Giving Campaign at PiedmontEdFoundation.org/donate.
