A Message From Student Services
Perseverance is the ability to keep going, even when something feels difficult, frustrating, or doesn’t go as planned. Middle school is a time when students face new challenges, and learning how to work through setbacks is an important part of building confidence and resilience.
Parents can help by encouraging children to focus on effort and progress rather than perfection. When your child is struggling, try asking, “What could you try next?” or “What is one small step you can take?” Remind them that making mistakes and experiencing setbacks are normal parts of learning and growing.
Try this at home: Encourage your child to think about a time when they faced a challenge and didn’t give up. What helped them keep going? What did they learn from the experience? Celebrating persistence, even when the outcome isn't perfect, can help children develop the confidence to tackle their next challenge.
Kindly, The HMS Student Services Team

This week, during Advisory, students continued to learn about Bully Prevention Month. Monday’s lesson was about being an upstander and putting a stop to bullying. All it takes is one person to say and do the right thing to protect others from being bullied. Students also continued to monitor their grades, set goals and learn about how Growth Mindsets can help them learn. To learn more, ask your student what it means to be an upstander.
Picture Retakes
Picture retake day is Wednesday, October 28th from 11 AM - 1:30 PM. Students will be dismissed during their lunch period to have their picture retaken. Staff can have their picture taken during this time as well. More information will follow from VIP on how to view and order picture retakes.

We want to provide expectations that go alongside our event and costumes. All students must comply with these expectations.

No weapons or props - Students should not bring any items that resemble weapons. These items will be confiscated and held in the office to be picked up by a parent or guardian.
No masks - Students cannot wear masks that cover their face.
No references to drugs or alcohol - Any outfits or items that include references to drugs or alcohol will not be permitted. Students will be asked to change or be picked up.
