Principal's HERO Club

Honesty

Empathy

Respect

Ownership

The CPS Principal’s HERO Club is an adaptation of The Principal’s 200 Club (Jenson, Rhode, Evans, & Morgan, 2006). The program is designed as a tier 1 (universal tier) positive behavior intervention and support aimed to promote student maintenance of expected school behavior. Specifically the Principal’s HERO Club utilizes: 1) verbal praise, 2) public posting, 3) the Mystery Motivator, 4) a variable reinforcement schedule and 5) a group contingency. There are several components that makeup the Principal’s club: • The card • The board • The celebrity book • Parent contact

China Primary School is very excited about our Positive School-Wide Behavior Program, CPS Principal’s HERO Club. The goal of this program is to: (1) assure a positive school environment (Honesty, Empathy, Respect and Ownership). (2) increase desirable, prosocial student behaviors, (3) decrease bullying, teasing, defiance, disrespect, and (4) provide multiple levels of praise for the student, plus positive communication with parents.

This is a positive way for us to show our students how proud we are of how well-behaved they are and how they make a positive influence at CPS. It is also our way of thanking parents/guardians for their continued support and guidance at home. As a team, we will continue to create CPS Heroes that are Honest, Empathic, Respectful and Own their behaviors.

Staff are provided with HERO Club cards which are handed out to students for demonstrating appropriate school behavior in both structured and unstructured learning environments. When a student receives a card they are sent to the school office. In the office the student celebrates their accomplishment by signing the Celebrity Book. The student also discusses their great work with Principal Moody who will facilitate communication with the student’s parents. Parent contact happens daily and is done in a manner that is best for the school, families, and the school community. Communication can be: • Phone call home • Postcard mailed home • Letter in backpack.

Students who receive a HERO Club card then choose a number out of a jar (1-100) and place their name on the corresponding number on a 10X10 board with 100 squares. When a row, column, or diagonal is completed (10 student names in a row) the students in that grouping are invited to participate in a special celebration or earn a special prize. The board is then cleared and the program starts over. We hope to see the board reset many times this year!

Updates on Breakfast and Lunch At School

First, we are very excited that so many students are taking advantage of breakfast in the cafeteria every day! On Friday, we served over 140 breakfasts between 7:30 and 8:00!

If your student plans to eat breakfast at school, please try to have them arrive as close to 7:30 as possible to give them plenty of time since classes begin at 8:00.

You'll see links below to the breakfast and lunch menus, along with information on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Completion of this form ensures that we are able to access Federal funding along with funding opportunities through the state of
