It has been a very busy term in our school with lots of exciting changes and developments. We had our first Wellbeing Week, co-ordinated by Ms. Savage which was a huge success and will now form part of our application for the Amber Flag which looks to promote good mental health and wellbeing in our school community. You can read more about the Amber flag initiative the link here https://www.pieta.ie/how-we-can-help/prevention-programmes/amber-flag-initiative/

Our application documenting our work for this flag, has now been sent off and you can view this on our website here:https://bartlemyns.ie/welbeing/

Please keep an eye on our brand new website which will be updated regularly.

Our student council has been a really positive development in our school and it is lovely to see them effecting change in our school.

We also celebrated World Book Day and Seachtain na Gaeilge this term and great fun and learning was had throughout these celebrations. Ms. Glavey's husband, Aaron, popped in to visit some of the classes for engineering week.

Our 2nd class children received their First Confession and 5th and 6th had their Ceremony of light. Congratulations to all the children involved in these ceremonies and to their teachers who prepared them so well.

As we finish our second term and look forward to our final term, I and all the staff would like to thank you the parents for your constant support in so many ways. Our school community is an exceptionally positive and nice one and that is down to the people within it. From pupils, parents and staff to Parents' Association and Board of Management, everyone plays their part in making our school community what it is. As our school motto says; We are stronger together, Ní neart go cur le Chéile.

Below, you will find a number of items for your attention.

Best of luck to our hurlers and camogie players who will commence their Sciath na Scol campaign tomorrow in Killeagh. Thank you to Catherine Power, Trish O'Sullivan and Imelda Dorgan who organised and trained the children. The teams will depart the school at 10:40 for a prompt start at 11:30 am for the girls game. The boys game is due to start at 12:15pm. Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh agus táimid an- bródúil asaibh!

Timely reminders!

Please be aware that school supervision does not commence until 9:10am each morning. This is under direction from our school insurance provider Allianz.

Please ensure that children are collected promptly at 3pm as teachers have regular meetings and often engage in preparation work after 3pm.

Book Lists for 2023/ 2024

We recently received clarity from the Department of Education around the free books scheme for children in the coming year. We are delighted with this development and it should be of significant relief for parents as it will include all books and copybooks.

Fun run 2023

A reminder to sign up for our annual school fun run and walk which has been organised by our wonderful Parents' Association. It has been an exceptionally tough year financially for the school. Basics, such as electricity and oil, have pushed us to our limits financially. The fun run is a wonderful fundraiser and all money will go towards the resurfacing of our Infant yard. Besides being an important fundraiser, it is also a fantastic, feel good day for our school community. The refreshments and chats in the Parish Hall afterwards are always very enjoyable too!
