Jag Wire
Week 8: September 28th-October 1st
A Message from the Principal
Last week, we celebrated Start With Hello and spent the week spreading kindness and making sure every Jag knows they belong at Sartartia. From matching days to small acts of kindness, our students showed what it means to look out for one another and make our campus a place where everyone feels welcome.
This week, our volleyball teams will wrap up their final regular-season game before heading into the end-of-season tournament. We’ll be cheering them on as they take the court and hunt for the win!
In classrooms across campus, our Jags continue to learn through choice, collaboration, academic discussion, and a culture of inquiry. We love seeing students take an active role in their learning and engage with both their teachers and classmates.
We also need your help! 8th Grade Career Day is coming up on December 2, and we would love to add more community members and professionals to our lineup of presenters. If you or someone you know would be willing to share your career and experiences with our students, please consider signing up. Your time could make a lasting impact on an 8th grader’s future!
Our teachers and staff also spent Friday preparing for the weeks ahead and focusing on ways to strengthen student engagement in the classroom. We are ready to finish Term 1 strong, and we encourage you to keep checking in on your child’s academics and attendance. Take a look at Skyward, encourage your student to attend tutorials when needed, and remind them that how you start matters!
A HUGE thank you to Brandi Arredondo and Raeann Dougherty, who spent Friday morning taking care of our staff and becoming our very own Jag baristas! They treated our teachers to specialty coffees all morning, and it was such a fun way to start the day. We appreciate you both!
And finally, we want to give a HUGE thank you to our SMS custodial team! They do so much more than take care of our building. They help create a campus that shines, feels welcoming, and is a place where students, staff, and families want to be. We are so grateful for everything they do behind the scenes to make Sartartia a special place to come to each day.
Your Proud Principal,
Cholly Oglesby

Information & Updates
Stopfinder App
Fort Bend ISD is relaunching the Stopfinder app to help families stay informed about their student’s bus transportation. FBISD's Transportation Department has worked to improve the functionality, reliability, and overall user experience of the app.
Stopfinder provides parents with bus route information, arrival times and confirmation that their student is on the correct bus. Students who receive district transportation will scan their district-issued ID badge when getting on and off the bus. The badges will also help bus drivers ensure students are on the right bus.
Stopfinder email invitations will be sent to parents and guardians on October 1. The invitation will include a link to download and access the Stopfinder app.
Beginning Monday, September 28, all students are expected to wear their district-issued ID badges at school and on the bus. In addition to transportation, the badges support campus security and can be used for cafeteria and library transactions.
Visit www.fortbendisd.com/stopfinder for additional information.
Thank you for your partnership with our district to keep students safe and families informed.
MATHia & Carnegie Learning
This year, our 6th-8th grade math students are using Carnegie Learning, a research-based program designed to build strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of math concepts.
Students will learn through a combination of classroom lessons and MATHia, an adaptive learning program that provides students with personalized practice and step-by-step support based on their individual needs.
Accessing MATHia at Home: Students can access MATHia from home through FBISD 1Link:
- Go to the FBISD 1Link Portal.
- Select Sign in with 1Link.
- Log in using your child's FBISD student email and network password.
- Select the Carnegie Learning/MATHia icon from the dashboard.
How Families Can Support Math Learning
- Encourage a growth mindset: Remind your child that mistakes are an important part of learning, especially when working through challenging math problems.
- Ask questions instead of giving answers: Try questions like, “What is the problem asking you to do?” or “What does the hint suggest?”
- Check progress: Ask your child to show you their MATHia dashboard and talk about the skills they are working to master.
- Use the built-in tools: Encourage your child to use the Hints and Glossary features when they get stuck.
Need your child's network password? You can find it in Skyward Family Access under the Student Password Information tab.
