From the Principal From the Principal

As we move into October, we want to remind families that Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on Thursday, October 8th, and Friday, October 9th. These conferences are an important opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, hear about their progress, and discuss their academic, social, and behavioral growth. Teachers will also be able to share areas where your child is doing well and identify ways we can work together to provide additional support when needed. Strong communication between home and school is an important part of student success, and we value the opportunity to partner with each of you. If you have not already done so, please make an appointment with your child’s teacher. We look forward to seeing you and working together to support your child.

With cooler Fall temperatures arriving, please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. Mornings can be chilly, so jackets, sweatshirts, and other layers are a good idea. Please remember to label coats and other clothing items with your child’s name.

Finally, a reminder that cell phone use is not permitted at school during school hours. Students should never have their cell phones out, in their hands, or in use during the school day. If your child brings a cell phone to school, it should remain put away for the entire school day. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation at home so that students can remain focused on learning, interacting with classmates, and participating in school activities.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Title I Information Title I Information

West Elementary School in Zion, IL is a Title I school, which means we receive federal funding to help ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. This support allows us to provide extra help in reading and math for students who may need it. Title I funding also helps us offer additional classroom resources, technology, and instructional materials. Our teachers use these tools to create engaging lessons that meet each child’s learning needs. Families may also see more school programs and activities designed to support learning at home. Being a Title I school helps us work together to give every student the opportunity to succeed.
