In addition to the scholarship, recipients will also receive mentorship throughout their entire freshman year to help guide them toward success. To be eligible, applicants must:

• Demonstrate interest and commitment to attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale

To apply, click the link below and make sure to upload a video (no longer than 2 minutes) answering the four questions listed in the flyer below. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!

The Homewood-Flossmoor Education Association (HFEO) is excited to announce the first recipients of their new Student Teaching Scholarship! This scholarship is awarded to past Future Teacher Scholarship recipients who have made significant progress towards their teaching careers. Three graduates from the class of 2021 who received Future Teacher Scholarships were each awarded an additional $400 to support them during their student teaching placements. The HFEO is proud to announce that two more of these graduates will be student teaching next school year, and they will also receive the Student Teaching Scholarship. Read more about these inspiring students in a recent HF Chronicle article.

Each year HF dedicates Honors Convocation Night to honor students who have earned college scholarships for the following school year. Thanks to the generosity of HFEO teachers, instructional assistants, and retired HF teachers, last year, the HFEO proudly funded and presented ten $500 awards to HF Seniors in the following categories: Service, Future Teacher, and Outstanding Student. This year marks the 9th year of the HFEO Scholarship Program, which has awarded over 50 scholarships totaling over $28,000 thus far.

You can make a tax-deductible contribution to the HFEO Scholarship Fund today! Whether that is $5, $20, $100 or even $500, your donation will have a positive impact on a future HF graduate.

To make your contribution, please make checks payable to HFEO, and note that it is for the Scholarship Fund and send it to:
