Update on Portables
Legacy Academy continues to work toward the beginning of the school year on many items. An item that has recently been a topic on social media is the 3 portable buildings for next year. A portable building that is currently utilized at Legacy has been disconnected from utilities in preparation for moving it to the SE corner of the property at the end of July. In addition, 2 portable buildings from WillScot are scheduled to arrive soon. There are extensive state and county regulations to be completed with these buildings, so it may take 7-10 days to set-up and gain occupancy once they arrive. These buildings will be classrooms for small groups, elementary specials and middle school music/theater and not general education. As always, the team at Legacy has the ability and expertise to be flexible and find solutions if delays happen to occur. We are looking forward to a great 2026-2027 school year!
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE
We are grateful the Elizabeth School District provided busing last year, but the service will not be available to Legacy families this coming school year. We know that this is disappointing to some as it was a tremendous help to our families who opted to use it. Ride sharing or carpooling is something Legacy families have done for many years, even before district busing was provided last year. We understand this creates an inconvenience for families and we will continue to brainstorm solutions. As another option, we are still offering before and after school care services for families. All new families will receive their carpool number signs and instructions on how the carpool operates at Back to School Night.
Additionally, Legacy will continue to have class field trips and activities through alternative transportation services. This does mean there may be a slight increase in cost, but we will do what we can to keep that cost to a minimum. It is still important to us as an educational institution that our students are still continuing to create real world connections and participate in experiential learning opportunities.
