The Riverwalk Roar
The Riverwalk Roar: March, 30th 2025
A Note from Dr. Compton
Happy Sunday, Pride!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather was beautiful for the most part—aside from that lovely yellow cloud of pollen—and it was a great time to be outside. For those of you who preferred the indoors, it was also a perfect weekend to catch some college basketball. If you're following March Madness, I hope your bracket is still holding strong and your team is still dancing. Mine is… go Duke!
Speaking of March Madness—whether your bracket is busted or you're still in the running—it’s hard not to get caught up in all the excitement. The energy, the upsets, the buzzer-beaters… there’s just something special about this time of year. It’s not just about basketball—it’s about heart, hustle, and teamwork.
And honestly, it reminds me a lot of what’s happening here at Riverwalk.
We’ve got our own kind of madness going on—in the best way possible. From academic growth to student achievements, and all the small (but meaningful) wins we see every day, our students and staff are bringing their A-game.
Just like in the tournament, success here doesn’t happen by accident. It takes preparation, resilience, support, and sometimes even a last-minute comeback. Whether it’s a student finally grasping a tough concept, stepping up as a leader, or simply showing kindness when it’s needed most, they’re showing up—and we couldn’t be prouder.
March Madness is also a great reminder that collaboration and teamwork make all the difference. From our teachers and staff to our students and families, we’re all on the same team, working together to help our Lions succeed.
So as we keep an eye on the tournament, let’s also take a moment to celebrate the grit, the growth, and the heart we see in our students and staff every single day.
Here’s to finishing strong—together!
In Pride and Purpose,
Dr. Compton
Photo of the Week
This past week rising 10th grade students had the opportunity to meet several staff members from York Technical College and begin the process of signing up for dual enrollment classes for the 2025-26 school year. Each year since the start of our partnership Riverwalk Academy has multiple students graduate with Associates degrees or certifications in a trade skill through the York Tech dual enrollment program.
2025 Teacher of the Year Recipients
We are so honored to have such incredible team members as a part of our Pride. Each of these ladies are so very deserving of this award and it is the pleasure of Riverwalk Academy to serve along side of such amazing and gifted educators.
March Staff Members of the Month!
We would like to give a HUGE shout out to our March Staff Members of the Month. These 3 inspirational individuals are well deserving of the accolade. They go above and beyond and give selflessly to our students, their families, and their fellow staff members. Thank you for doing what you do and congratulations!
