Together We Rise: Updates from the Principal
9/5/2025
A Message from Dr. Delgado:
I am excited about the many opportunities we have this week to come together, collaborate, and strengthen our Wildcat community. Working side by side as families, staff, and community members makes all the difference in building a brighter future for Westview Middle School.
On Wednesday, September 10th at 5:00 p.m., we will host a community meeting during our Campus Academic Advisory Council (CAAC) meeting. This meeting is especially important as we will be gathering input from our families and community to help guide the development of our Turnaround Plan (TAP) for submission to the Texas Education Agency. Following three years of “F” ratings under the state accountability system, it is critical that we work together to create a stronger path forward for Westview. Your voice and partnership are essential in this process.
Immediately following the CAAC/community meeting, at 6:00 p.m., we will hold our first PTO meeting of the year. This is a wonderful chance to get involved, support our Wildcats, and connect with other families.
We also have exciting opportunities to come together in support of our student-athletes:
-
Tuesday, September 9th – First home football games at Wildcat Stadium
7th A Team @ 5:30 p.m./ 8th A Team following the 7th A Team game
-
Wednesday, September 10th at 5:30 p.m. – Cross Country’s first meet at Parkcrest Middle School
I look forward to working alongside each of you as we build a stronger Westview Middle School together. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to our students’ success!
Westview Middle School Turnaround Plan Feedback
📢 Seeking Parent & Community Input: Campus Turnaround Plan (TAP)
Westview Middle School has received an F rating for the past three years, which requires us to submit a Turnaround Plan (TAP) to the state. It is vital that the voices of our parents, families, and community members are included in shaping this plan for the future of our Wildcats.
Please take a moment to complete the brief survey linked below to provide your input.
Additionally, if you would like to share more detailed feedback in person, we invite you to attend our CAAC/Community Meeting on Wednesday, September 10th at 5:00 p.m. in the Wildcat Library.
✅ Your voice matters—help us shape a stronger future for Westview!
A Message from the Counselors
Counselor Referral Form
If your child is in need of services provided by our counseling team, such as an academic or scheduling concern, a peer conflict, family or grief concern, mental health concerns, or request for community resources, please use this linked form to request support.
Schedule Changes
Thank you for your patience and support as we worked through schedule changes at the start of the school year. As a reminder, we stopped accepting schedule change requests on Friday, September 5th.
Beginning next week, no further changes will be made to student schedules based on individual requests. Any adjustments that do occur will only be administrative changes made in order to support the needs of the campus as a whole.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain consistency for our students. Together, we can ensure that every Wildcat is set up for success this school year!

Student Personal Device Guidelines
During the state’s 2025 legislative session, lawmakers passed and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law a bill that prohibits students from using personal devices during school hours.
House Bill 1481 takes effect the 2025-2026 school year and requires all Texas school districts to prohibit students from using "personal wireless communication devices," which the law defines as “any wireless electronic communication device, other than a device provided to students by a school for instructional purposes, capable of transmitting and/or receiving data.”
What Devices are Restricted:
Personal cell phones
Tablets
Gaming devices
Smart watches
Bluetooth headphones or earbuds
Fitness trackers that can send or receive messages
Personal computers not being used for instructional purposes
Two-way radios
Pagers
Any other device capable of digital communication.
What Devices are Allowed:
Devices purchased and issued by Pflugerville ISD are exempt from this restriction.
What this means for Pflugerville ISD:
Students are expected to either leave personal communication devices at home or power them off and store them securely in their backpacks during the day. Device use is not permitted at any time during school hours, which includes passing periods and lunch times.
- Exceptions will be made for documented medical needs and special education accommodations. (Families who wish to request this exception should work directly with their campus nurse or administrator)
PfISD leaders understand this is a big change for our students and families, and have developed a phased-in approach to help students and families adjust.
During the first nine weeks of school, we’ll focus on education and grace. Students will receive reminders, and staff will take time to explain the new expectations. Each campus will have a designated point person to help guide this transition, and families will receive information through school emails, newsletters, websites, and social media.
During this transition phase, the consequences for cell phone use will be progressive. Once we’ve given students time to learn the expectations, enforcement will shift to immediate and progressive consequences without verbal warnings.
The law is designed to support student learning, reduce distractions, and limit the potential for cyberbullying. To help students adjust, families are encouraged to speak with their students about this change and perhaps consider practicing being device-free at home.
Phase 1: Transition Period (August 13-September 18)
1st Offense: Verbal Reminder
2nd Offense: Device confiscated and returned at the end of the day.
3rd Offense: Device only returned to parent or guardian.
Chronic Issues: Parent meeting and progressive discipline.
Phase 2: Full Implementation (September 19-end of the year)
1st Offense: Device confiscated and returned only to parent/guardian.
2nd Offense: Confiscation and lunch detention.
3rd Offense: Confiscation plus half-day of ISS and a parent meeting.
Chronic Issues: Full day of ISS, behavior plan, or temporary ban of the device on campus.

📍 Days: Monday - Wednesday
⏰ Time: 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

Safety Protocols
🎟️ Student ID Badges
By the end of this week, all students will have received their student ID badges! We are excited to take this important step in keeping Westview a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Students are expected to wear their ID badges every day. This helps us quickly identify who belongs on campus and ensures that our school remains a secure environment for learning.
We appreciate your support in reminding your student to wear their ID badge each day—it’s a simple habit that makes a big difference in keeping our Wildcat community safe!
Restroom Use During Class Time
We ask for your support in helping students value their instructional time. Restroom breaks during class should be limited to emergencies only. Each student is allotted six restroom passes per six weeks for use during class time.
As a reminder, we have increased our passing periods to four minutes to give students more time to use the restroom between classes. Students may also use the restroom during lunch, before school, and after school.
Please encourage your student to make the most of their class time by avoiding unnecessary restroom trips during instructional periods.
Community Eligibility Provision Form (CEP)
Everyone Must Complete a CEP Form
All families are asked to complete a CEP form for this school year. This process is vital to ensuring that our school receives the funding and resources needed to best serve our students.
If you have not yet submitted your form—or if you’re unsure whether you have—please contact us and we will be glad to help. You can reach the main office at (512) 594-2200.
Thank you for helping us support Westview with the resources our students deserve!
No Food Deliveries from Restaurant Food
As a reminder, restaurant food deliveries are not allowed during the school day. If you would like your child to enjoy a meal from a restaurant, you are welcome to:
-
Sign your student out and enjoy lunch with them off campus, or
-
Join them at our picnic tables in front of the school.
After lunch, students can be signed back in to continue their school day.
Parents are always welcome to bring homemade lunches for their students. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and structured learning environment!

Attendance Matters
Help your child start strong this school year! 🏫✨
- Try to schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school or in the afternoon so your child can be counted present.
- Every school day matters—just a few missed days can add up quickly.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every day count for your child’s success! 💙
Tardy Consequences Issued Beginning Monday, September 8th
⏰ Tardy Policy Update
We have started recording tardies for consequences this week and will begin issuing consequences to students tomorrow. Parents, you may start seeing emails come into your inbox about your child being late to class. Please encourage them to make it a priority to arrive to all of their classes on time. We will issue consequences according to the chart below.
Please know that parents will be responsible for their child's transportation home if they are assigned a detention after school. This can easily be avoided by ensuring that the student arrives to class on time each period.
We ask for your support in helping students understand the importance of being in class on time. Arriving promptly ensures that no learning is missed and sets the tone for a productive day. Together, we can build positive habits that prepare students for success in school and beyond.
