A Message from our School Counselor, Mrs. Allred
This week at Hawks View, we're celebrating the power of kindness! Students have been working hard to show compassion and understanding in everything they do. To bring this spirit to life, a local artist has been creating a mural on the wall, at the bottom of the stairs in the media center. The mural represents the languages spoken in the homes of our families, as reflected in our school enrollment forms. Students have loved watching this masterpiece come to life throughout the week! A special thank you to our PAC for sponsoring this project—it’s brought fun and brightness to Hawks View!
Kindergarten Open House ~ Today!
Join us for our Kindergarten Open House tonight, 4:00-6:00 pm. Please use the Activity Entrance (look for signage) and join us in Gym 1. Doors will unlock at 3:50 pm and sessions will run about every 20 minutes with the last one beginning at 5:40pm.
Incoming Kindergarten students must turn 5 on or before September 1st. Registering early helps the school and district start planning for the fall.
OMSI Traveling Planetarium Opportunity
Hawks View PAC is partnering with OMSI this spring to bring the stars to us. There will be an opportunity for up to 90 students to participate in OMSI's traveling planetarium. There is limited space for this event so the student selection will be a lottery. If you would like to enter your student's name into the planetarium lottery please fill out the following form.
Hawks View Spirit Week! March 17-21
Show us your hawks View spirit! Each day will have a different these, if you child(ren) would like to participate. Flyers with details will be coming home via backpack mail, or you can find the flyers here.
Transition Resource Fair ~ March 19
Community Review Night: Instructional Materials for Science & Health
The Teaching and Learning Department invites you to participate in our Instructional Materials Community Review Night. Parents, caregivers, and community members are encouraged to stop by at their convenience during the event. Staff members will be present to answer your questions and discuss the proposed materials in detail.
Attention Parents of 3rd-5th Grade Girls
Girls on the Run is back this spring! While the name says "run," this is NOT a track program — it's a fun, uplifting after-school program that inspires girls to be active, set goals, and build confidence. Whether walking, skipping, dancing, or running — all movement is celebrated! Along the way, girls learn essential life skills like friendship, empathy, and teamwork — all while preparing for a celebratory 5K at the end of the season.
Don't miss this amazing opportunity to empower your girl! Any girl from any school can participate. If coming from another location just inform your coaches.
Program Details:

Emergency Drills
All schools in our district will be participating in lockdown drills in March. These drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness, and help students and staff to practice specific protocols that would occur in an emergency situation. This will be the second lockdown drill of the year and will not be announced to students or staff in advance to allow for an accurate observation of any response protocols that need improvement or additional training. Practice drills such as these are also an opportunity for our administrators and staff to collaborate with the Sherwood Police Department. You may notice increased police presence if you are on/near campus during a lockdown drill, as SPD officers do participate in these drills.
During a lockdown drill, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices, and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed.
For more information on District emergency response protocols and communication, please visit the SSD website here.
