Congratulations to our 3rd Grade students who participated in the NCAA Read to the Final Four Challenge. They came in 19th place (2 places shy of the cut off) with 11,008 minutes read! We are continuing with the myON Program as it is an opportunity for the students to build upon their reading level in preparation for 4th grade and beyond.
As the program continues, every participating 3rd grade student will be recognized and awarded at the end of the school year. The Top 3 students in 3 categories (Most Books Read, Most Pages Read, and Most Minutes Read) will receive special recognition. GIRLS 5TH GRADE & UP: ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN ADVENTURE?
Camping, leadership, hiking, high-adventure experiences, skills development, and personal & group achievement are waiting in Scouts BSA (formerly named Boy Scouts of America).
Girls have been welcome in Scouting for two years, and a new girls Troop for grade 5 through age 17 is now forming, chartered by Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. This new Troop will benefit from partnership with the existing Tab Pres boys Troop 72, but will operate as a separate girls-only unit.
Activities start in April. In Scouts BSA, the scouts run the program, with guidance and mentoring from trained adult leaders. The Troop will meet three times a month on Monday evenings, and will camp once a month. Scholarships are available, everyone is welcome in Scouting!
Until the Covid situation settles, activities will be outside, masked, and socially-distanced when the weather permits, and on Zoom when needed. Scouting has a strong Safety and Youth Protection program for all leaders and scouts.
Don’t let the boys have all the fun - come join us! To learn more, please contact Dan Koehring (parent of Sidener 2nd and 5th grader) at DanK987@gmail.com .
