TRUNK OR TREATπ
Halloween is approaching and it is time to start planning our annual Halloween Trunk or Treat presented by our amazing Arlington PTA!
We will be having an all school Halloween Trunk or Treat in lieu of individual class celebrations.
This will happen directly after the Halloween Parade on Friday, October 30th on the Arlington Blacktop.
While all are invited to the Halloween Parade (parents, siblings, grandparents), ONLY CLEARED volunteers will be able to join us for the Halloween Trunk or Treat fun that will be held on the Arlington blacktop. If you have not completed the TUSD application to become a CLEARED on campus volunteer, please do so with this link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/Mjg5Njplbi1VUw==
With that said... Here are the details of this exciting PTA event!!
But first, please note: ALL STUDENTS WILL BE INCLUDED, the following information is voluntary and not mandatory.
The Trunk or Treat will take place on the blacktop. The event will be roughly from 9:15 am (after the Halloween Parade) until about 10:30 am. We (the PTA) are asking each class to prepare 2 trunks (our goal is 2 trunks per class, but if we only have 1 trunk volunteer, then we will use a table or another set up for the 2nd space).
Setup for the volunteers with the trunks will start at 7:30 am that morning - so if you volunteer for a trunk, please be prepared to arrive early for set up - ALL CARS MUST BE ON CAMPUS BY 8:20 am (NO EXCEPTIONS). The trunk volunteer is responsible for providing the decorations. and activity for their trunk - you may request donations from your classroom families if needed.
We are also asking for additional class volunteers to help with set up and during the Trunk or Treat event where needed with activities/games and keeping an eye on our students.
Please sign up here if you are wanting to volunteer for the event and/or volunteer to do a trunk: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0545AAAC2DAAFFC61-66338322-halloween#/
*We will be confirming that each volunteer that is signed up is CLEARED through our TUSD Raptor Volunteer System to be on campus for this event.*
**Please have each volunteer sign up individually. If more than one person in your family is volunteering (for example, you and your spouse), each volunteer will need to complete their own sign-up.**
Each grade will have a theme for their trunk. Room Parent Leads can request donations for the classroom trunks that their volunteers will need in order to decorate. We are also asking that at least 1 trunk for your class has a simple activity or game for the students to participate in at your trunk - examples like Ring around the Witch Hat, Pumpkin Ping Pong Toss, Pin the Bowtie on the Skeleton, etc.
Lastly, we are asking for families to help in donating treats/prizes for us to use for the Trunk or Treat. We have created an Amazon Wish List for you to purchase from as we do have to keep in mind that we have students with allergies on campus and need to be mindful of what we are providing for the event. There will be Halloween themed collection boxes at the front gate before and after school starting Wednesday, October 7th. You can also ship items directly to the school (c/o Rebekah DeBenedictis) through the Amazon Wish List. You are welcome to purchase similar items in store from The Dollar Tree and online through Oriental Trading Co just to name a few options - but please take a look at the items on the list using the link below to get an idea.
We are requesting all donations to be collected by Friday, October 23rd so we have enough time to sort through and purchase anything additional we may need for the event.

As a reminder, ALL STUDENTS WILL BE INCLUDED as this is all voluntary and not mandatory.
The PTA will be providing handle bags for every student as well as any additional treats/prizes needed for the trunk or treat.
Room Parent Leads will be receiving more detailed information in the coming weeks. Please feel free to reach out to the PTA Trunk or Treat Chair, Rebekah DeBenedictis, directly at Arlington.TrunkOrTreat@gmail.com with any questions or concerns you may have.
As always, thank you all for your continued support of the Arlington PTA and in making this an amazing school year for our kiddos!
Did you know that every November Arlington hosts a HUGE craft fair for local vendors? Walk over, drive over (blacktop is open for parking) and come support our neighborhood community.
We have over 80 vendors by the benches, down the hall towards the K classes and 5th grade classes and in the teachers parking lot!
The 5th grade class will also be selling AMAZING snacks, and hosting a really cool raffle. You don't want to miss out! Mark your calendar.
Thank you Arlington PTA for organizing and hosting this community event.
PLEASE SHARE THE FLYER WITH FAMILIES AND THE WIDER TORRANCE COMMUNITY!

Will you to help us?
Each year, families must re-apply for the Free and Reduced meals through the Universal Benefits Application.
Families must type "Torrance" in the search bar to select "Torrance USD (Torrance, California)" from the drop down menu.
Although breakfast and lunch will be free this year, thanks to the California Universal Meals Program, all families are still highly recommended to submit a meal application as your family may be eligible for additional benefits such as discounted fees.
***The information will also ensure funding in the areas of academic advisement, counseling, and intensive reading intervention for our low-income students. It is possible we will lose our funding $$$$$$ (it's 6 digits) if we don't have enough applicants to show the needs of our school***
*One meal application per household
