Mental Health Spotlight
Boost your Mood in the Spring
Spring is almost here and we are looking forward to warmer weather and more daylight. We know that winter can feel long and be challenging so our hope is that Spring will boost your mood and emotional health. Here are a few ways our department enjoys Spring!
- Ms. Bowers: "I enjoy planning road trip adventures with my family. I also love walking the trails with my dogs."
- Mr. Campbell "I look forward to playing golf again and walks with my grand pup."
- Mrs. Dusek: "In the spring I start planning and planting my vegetable garden. I enjoy walking my dog outside as the weather warms up!"
- Mrs. Pitzen: "I like to open my windows for the fresh air and get to work cleaning, decluttering and organizing my house."
- Mrs. Seifert: "I try to go for quick walks during my lunch break and spend more time outside with my kids. My husband enjoys grilling so we enjoy trying new recipes too."
WI Forward Assessment
Meyer Middle School students will be taking the WI Forward assessment the week of April 14th - April 18th. All students will be assessed in the areas of Math and English Language Arts. Students in eighth grade will also be assessed in Science and Social Studies. Performance on the assessment does not impact students' grades; however, it does impact our school rating and provides us with important information to meet our students' needs.
Please encourage your child to try their best, get plenty of rest and eat a healthy breakfast each day during testing week. Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for make-up testing the following week.

Paws for Prevention
We are so proud of Ms. Bowers for presenting at the Wisconsin School Psychologists Association (WSPA) in WI Dells with Sonja Kamrath, School Psychologist of Rocky Branch and Early Childhood. They shared how animal-assisted interventions can provide preventative and responsive care to students and staff. They also talked about the certifications that are available to both humans and animals. They helped others across the state envision how animal-assisted programs might look in their district.
Career Fair
Our 8th grade teachers are in the beginning stages of planning a career fair and mock interviews for all students in 8th grade. The Career Day will take place on May 9th from 7:45am-10:30am. We are looking for Career Fair Volunteers and Mock Interview Volunteers.
Career Fair Volunteers will be standing at a table in the gym and talking with 8th graders about their career, daily tasks, and skills used on the job. We are also looking for volunteers to help with mock interviews. These will be held in classrooms and will be a time for students to practice interview skills and answer predetermined questions. Volunteers will be asking students interview questions and giving them feedback on their interview skills.
If you would like to volunteer for either of these opportunities, please fill out the following Google form.
The team will email you with more information and updates once we have a list of volunteers.
A Note from the Team
Our team is always amazed how fast the school year goes. We are truly grateful for all the opportunities we have to work with students and their families. This year we have met with students individually, in small groups, coordinated our Mental Health Awareness Week and Chill Week, and met with families for students' Academic and Career Planning conferences. A special shout out to Mrs. Dusek who is also facilitating a ROX group, which focuses on empowering girls. We are looking forward to the rest of the school year and the exciting things ahead!
We are wishing everyone a happy and healthy Spring Break!
