August 29th, 2025

This past week officially kicked off our competition season! Our varsity volleyball team has already hit the court for their first games, and tonight we’re looking forward to cheering on our varsity football team as they take on Walthill at 7:00 p.m. under the Friday night lights.
It’s always inspiring to see our students balancing their schoolwork, practices, and extracurricular activities. From the classroom to the court to the field, they are putting in the effort to make this year a success. Teachers, coaches, and families are all noticing how quickly everyone is finding their rhythm again, and it’s clear that the school year is already off to a fast start.
We are proud of the commitment our students are showing and grateful for the support of our families and community. With your encouragement, we know this will be a fantastic season of learning, growth, and Wildcat pride. We hope to see you in the stands tonight—go Wildcats!

HOMECOMING IS ALMOST HERE 😎
Believe it or not, Homecoming is just one month away—and we can already feel the excitement building! Time to start planning outfits, because it’s going to be a celebration to remember. Sophomores will soon be kicking off their fundraisers, so keep an eye out for ways to support them.
This year’s themes are set and they couldn’t be more fun—our high school will be traveling back in time with a Disco theme, while middle schoolers will step into a Fairytale world. Mark your calendars: the Homecoming football game against the Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Titans is on October 3rd. The dances will follow on October 4th—middle school in the auditorium and high school in the main gym.
Stay tuned—more details will be shared in upcoming newsletters. We can’t wait to celebrate Homecoming 2025 with our Wildcat family!
STAYING ON TOP OF ACADEMICS & ACTIVE ELIGIBILITY
Missing Assignments
As we dive into a busy school year filled with classes, sports, and activities, it’s important to remember that academics come first. Missing assignments can quickly lead to falling behind and even failing courses, so we encourage families to help their students stay on track. A few great ways to do this include:
-
Creating a Canvas Observer Account to follow along with your student’s coursework.
-
Logging into PowerSchool to keep an eye on grades and assignments.
-
Having regular conversations with your student about their schoolwork.
To keep you informed, parents and students will receive an email every Monday if there are missing assignments. This is a great tool to catch issues early before they turn into bigger problems.
Eligibility for Activities
Starting Tuesday, September 2nd, we will release the first eligibility list of the year. Here’s what families should know:
If a student is failing two or more classes, they will be deemed ineligible for all activities.
Ineligibility begins the Wednesday after the list is released and lasts for one week (until the following Wednesday).
Each student is allowed one probation week per semester. Probation gives them one additional week to raise their grades before becoming ineligible.
These rules apply to all students in grades 6–12.
We believe these expectations help students prioritize learning while still enjoying the extracurricular opportunities that make school so special. Thank you for your partnership in supporting your student’s success both in and out of the classroom!
FROM THE OFFICE
The Importance of Being On Time and Prepared for Class
At Cedar Bluffs, we believe that being on time and ready to learn is one of the most important habits for student success. Arriving to class promptly not only shows respect for teachers and classmates but also sets the tone for a productive day of learning.
School begins at 8:00 a.m. each morning. Any student arriving after 8:00 will be counted as tardy. This expectation applies to every class throughout the day—whether it’s the very first period or the very last. Consistency helps students stay engaged, prepared, and on track academically.
We understand that emergencies sometimes happen. If an emergency situation causes your child to be late, we ask that you please call the front office so our secretaries are aware.
Consequences for Excessive Tardies
To help reinforce the importance of punctuality, we have clear expectations in place:
-
3 or more tardies in one week → The student will be assigned Wildcat Reflection for the following week, Tuesday through Friday.
-
5 or more tardies in one week → The student will be deemed ineligible for all activities that week.
These guidelines are in place to encourage responsibility and accountability, both of which are valuable life skills. By working together—students, families, and staff—we can help every Wildcat arrive prepared, on time, and ready to make the most of each day.
