A Message from the Principal

Dear JSC Community,

It's an EGG-citing time at John S. Clarke Elementary Center! We are thrilled to report that the chicks have hatched in our third grade classrooms. All students at JSC will have the opportunity to come learn about the chicks and embryology program within the next week!

In other news, Read Across America Week will be celebrated here at JSC next week, from March 4th to March 8th! We are still accepting (and encouraging) guest readers to sign up to read to a classroom (or two). Come share the love of literacy!

Please read below for important news and upcoming events in our JSC community! As always, thank you for helping to make JSC the place to be!

Your partner in education,

Ms. Kerri Lubinsky

Principal

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures at JSC

Did you know???

Students who arrive to JSC by private vehicle have two options for entry, regardless of their grade level. Students may enter school through the main lobby doors on the lower level, or the Mount Hope doors located on the school's upper level.

Arrival time at John S. Clarke is from 8:35AM to 9:00AM. We know that traffic gets congested during morning arrival time, which is why allow 25 minutes for students to enter in the morning. Traffic is busiest from 8:30-8:45. If you are looking to avoid the rush, please consider dropping your child off between 8:45 and 8:55. (Students are considered tardy after 9:00.)

If you are bringing your child for arrival or picking up for dismissal, we ask that you use available street parking on 16th Street, Mount Hope Avenue, in the lot next to the practice softball field, or the lower road (JFK pool road). JSC staff will continue to stand at the entrances of private business lots on Mount Hope Avenue, to ensure that no one parks in these areas.

Please contact JSC Principal Ms. Kerri Lubinsky with questions or concerns.

JSC Students Celebrate Kindness with Cards

The month of February is a time to celebrate kindness and compassion. JSC 1st grade teachers Mrs. Blozusky and Mrs. Steigerwalt, along with STEM teacher Mr. Narita, coordinated a Valentine's Day card donation event. Students (thanks to the help and support of JSC staff) created cards to donate to residents at local nursing homes. Kindness...Pass it on!

Below: Third grade students Ebby Upton, Genevieve Cicero, and Lynae Beam display cards created for local nursing home residents.
