Blossomwood Faculty Takes a Field Trip!
Our wonderful faculty and staff took a field trip last Wednesday, July 29. We used two school buses to tour the various parts of our school zone or footprint including neighborhoods such as Trailhead off Highway 72, Oak Park, Five Points, Twickenham, Searcy Homes, LR Patton, Seminole, Brookside, as well as the area within walking distance of the school. What a great opportunity to be reminded how it feels to ride a school bus for an extended period of time as well as an opportunity to visit the areas and homes we serve. Thank goodness the A/C was working on the buses! 😀
- Special thanks to the Searcy Boys & Girls Club for hosting a special stop and visit of their facility.
Huge Crowd at the Kindergarten Pool Party!
We had a record crowd at our annual Blossomwood PTA sponsored kindergarten pool party at the on Friday, July 31! Thank you to our PTA, and we are looking forward to working with our new kindergarten families this year and years to come!

Staggered Start for Kindergarten Students
First Day Thoughts
ARRIVAL
- FIRST DAY (Wednesday) - All parents may park and walk their child(ren) to class on the first day. In an effort to prevent traffic buildup in the hallways, we ask that students go straight to their classrooms unless they are eating breakfast.
- SECOND DAY (Thursday) - Normal arrival procedures in place for grades 1-6. We will have a few safety patrols and sixth grade students at the car line to help any students that need help remembering how to get to their classroom from the car line.
- Kindergarten ONLY - If desired, Kindergarten families can walk their kindergarten student to the front lobby where we will have multiple adults and some sixth grade students to walk them from the front lobby to their classroom.
DISMISSAL
- Thank you in advance for your patience in the car line for the first couple of days. With more car riders during the first two days, it always takes longer as we all learn/re-learn the procedures. After a couple of days, it will move quicker. As a result, we encourage families to carpool or consider allowing their child to walk to one of the walker locations (Across the bridge to Olive Drive, the school gate at Tennessee Street, or the school gate at Dale Circle) to meet their parents off campus.
- If your child is a walker, please:
- Complete a walker agreement for your child. (One is being sent home from your child's teacher & you can use the link below to download a copy, too)
- Staff will escort the walkers to one of three locations (Across the bridge to Olive Drive, the school gate at Tennessee Street, or the school gate at Dale Circle)
- Please do not park on campus if your child is a walker. He/She may be picked up at one of the locations listed above. This is a major safety concern as we do not want children crossing traffic, bus area, or the parking lot with moving traffic. Thank you in advance for helping to keep the children safe.
MEALS
- All students at Blossomwood (PreK-Gr. 6) receive a FREE breakfast and lunch daily. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 7:50 am.
- While we look forward to having help at lunch, the first few of weeks of school are spent establishing routines and procedures throughout the school, especially in the cafeteria. We welcome parents to volunteer and eat lunch with us in the cafeteria starting Monday, August 30. * Exception: If your child has a birthday prior to August 30 and you would like to eat lunch with them, please work it out with your child's teacher.

Huntsville City School & SchoolCash Online
You may have recently received an email regarding SchoolCash Online. Huntsville City Schools is transitioning to a new online payment platform for student fees and school-related items called SchoolCash Online.
Key Information
What it replaces: All online payments for school fees, class items, and activity payments will move to SchoolCash Online.
What is NOT changing: Meal payments (CNP) will stay on EZSchoolPay. Lunch accounts will continue to function as usual through EZSchoolPay. (Keep in mind that breakfast and lunch are free for students at Blossomwood.)
Parent Registration Process
Parents and guardians can create a free account and attach their student(s) to their profile. This registration can be done in two ways:
Invitation Email: Primary guardians listed in PowerSchool will receive an automatic email invitation over the weekend after launch. If parents ask, please reassure them that this email is legitimate and safe.
School Website: Parents can also register directly at huntsvillecs.schoolcashonline.com or by clicking the School Fees button on any Huntsville City Schools website.
Once registered, parents will automatically receive email notifications whenever new fees or items are added for their child.

Safety Reminders for 2026-2027
Below are a few general safety reminders and updates related to visitors and families I would like to share so your family can plan and prepare for the upcoming school year:
- Any person who comes into the school to see a child MUST be listed in PowerSchool as a contact person for that child. This includes anyone coming to eat lunch with a child or volunteer in the school. Any visitors/volunteers not associated with a student as a contact in PowerSchool must be approved through Dr. Scott. Please make sure you update your child's contacts by stopping by the school office.
- Please remember that ALL visitors and volunteers will need to show an ID to enter our building. The ID will also be used to verify that the person entering the building is associated as a contact with a student. For those wondering about the Raptor safety system, it is a system that uses the visitor’s first name, last name, and date of birth that is captured with the ID scan to check only against registered sex offender databases in all 50 U.S. states.
- All students (K-6) and parents must walk through the weapons detection system located in the school lobby.
- Visitors will be asked to sign in on a log that indicate where their location will be while in the building. For example, "Lunchroom" if coming to eat lunch with a student. It is important for the safety of ALL people in the building, including our visitors and volunteers, for us to know your location.
- Any visitor who is eating lunch with a student, must check out at the front office at the conclusion of lunch. Visitors are not allowed to go with the class back to the classroom or out to the playground for recess time.
- While we look forward to having help at lunch, the first few of weeks of school are spent establishing routines and procedures throughout the school, especially in the cafeteria. We welcome parents to volunteer and eat lunch with us in the cafeteria starting Monday, August 30. * Exception: If your child has a birthday and you would like to eat lunch with them, please work it out with your child's teacher.
Our Students Need You!
If you would like to volunteer and become more involved at Blossomwood, please reach out to our parent coordinator, Ms. Chelsea Clay. She will be glad to help find a role just for you! In fact, part of her role as parent coordinator includes establishing a parent advisory committee, hosting parent events, leading parent trainings, building relationships with all parents in our school, and acting as a liaison between the parent community and the school.
