Greetings, Hosmer Families,
Last night Hosmer hosted a districtwide Diversity & Belonging Council meeting with more than 40 caregivers in attendance! It was lovely to share a meal together and to experience a Restorative Circle with Roy Karp, the District Restorative Practices & Student Leadership Development Specialist.
This morning we held our Kindergarten "Coffee and Curriculum" morning for parents. I have included some pictures below to give you a taste of our discussion. We hope to see more families as we continue with thes over the next couple of weeks!
Veterans Day
There is also no school on Monday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans' Day. Thank you to the members of our Watertown community who have served in the armed forces.
Fall Data Verification - VERY IMPORTANT
We are excited to announce the Fall Annual Verification 24-25 will open soon. This process utilizes our online registration/enrollment system and is required annually to verify and update student demographic, health, family, contact data, and permissions. Guardians/parents will receive an email for each student with a SNAPCODE . A snapcode is like a key to your student’s current information. Using the link in the Snapcode email, you are automatically directed to your student’s data on Watertown’s Registration/Enrollment site. Each snapcode is unique to one student. You will receive a separate email/snapcode for each student. The Fall Annual Verification needs to be completed by 11/22/2024. You can contact the Registrar's Office at (617) 972-4216 or email terri.stafford@watertown.k12.ma.us to ask general questions about the form or process.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school and community.
With a grateful heart,
Ms. Moulton, Principal

November at Home & Community Project
During November, classrooms will read the texts Maddi's Fridge by Lois Brandt and illustrated by Vin Vogel, and Saturday at the Food Pantry, written by Diane O'Neill and illustrated by Brizida Magro.
In addition to reading and discussing the stories in school, the students are invited to complete a Giving Back Choice Board focused on promoting generosity, gratitude, and service within our community. More information about the stories and the choice board can be found here.
Additionally, over the next two weeks, we will collect non-perishable food items for the Watertown food pantries and the Community Fridge.
If you want to contribute, please consider donating canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, and other non-perishable food items. You can drop your donations in the boxes outside the Nurse's Office. Scroll down to the bottom of the newsletter to find the flyer.
Unwanted Halloween Candy?
If you have unwanted/leftover Halloween candy (even just the stuff that your family might not like!), we will gladly take it off your hands in the Main Office. I am often purchasing candy for faculty meetings, etc. and your extra's last year really helped. We actually got through the whole rest of the year without having to purchase snacks for meetings and professional development!
Coffee & Curriculum
Wondering what your kids are learning this year? We are beginning a series of grade-level curriculum discussions to occur throughout November. The flyer is attached below. Please join us to see what kids are reading, learning, and doing! The Math and Literacy Coaches (Forrest Sturgis & Mis Mulvey) will join me for these interactive sessions where you'll also get some tips on how to help at home. We'd love to have you!
Learn about our curriculum programs, the most important skills of the grade level, and how you can support learning at home.
