We hope your year is off to a great start and that your family is settling into the school routine. As we welcome the crisp air and colorful days of fall, we are excited to share updates and highlights from across our district. In this letter, you’ll find important information and a look ahead at the opportunities and events that will keep our schools moving forward together.

Due to the lack of a finalized state budget for K–12 education, the free breakfast and lunch program will no longer be funded after September 30, 2025. As a result, beginning October 1, 2025, the district will start charging for student meals. We understand this change may impact families, and we want to provide as much notice as possible so you can plan accordingly. Meal prices are listed below, and we encourage families who may qualify for free or reduced-price meals to complete the appropriate application, which is linked here: http://lakefenton.familyportal.cloud/

If the State restores the free breakfast and lunch funding, we still encourage families to complete the application process. The State uses this information to determine the amount of At-risk funding the district will receive to provide additional support to students.

Breakfast $2.00

Elementary Lunch $3.00

Secondary Lunch $3.75

Milk $0.75

If you have any questions, please contact Emily Scislowicz, Food Service Director at 810-591-9449 or Escislowicz@lakefentonschools.org.

It’s Homecoming Week, and we are excited to celebrate with our students, staff, and community! The Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, September 26, beginning at 4:45 p.m. We look forward to seeing the streets filled with school spirit and pride. As a reminder, whether you are participating in the parade or enjoying as a spectator, please help us keep our community looking great by cleaning up your space before you leave.

We invite you to join us for the State of the District presentation at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 13. During this update, we will share progress on our strategic plan goals, including academic performance, as well as results from recent student, staff, and parent surveys. The presentation will also provide an overview of the district’s budget and important updates on facilities. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the work taking place across the district and our plans for the future.

Pink Out Events Pink Out Events

This October, our district will be hosting Pink Out events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Students, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear pink and join together to raise awareness and show support for those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. These events not only bring our school community together in a meaningful way but also provide an opportunity to promote education, compassion, and hope. We look forward to seeing our schools and stands filled with pink as we stand united for a great cause.
