Dear Smith Family,

I am so excited to be back with you! This year I will send out a weekly newsletter with important information about upcoming events, parenting tips/ideas, and anything else I believe will help in your journey to support your child in meeting their potential. Research clearly shows in order for children to reach their academic potential, their social emotional needs MUST be met. I hope to be a resource to you and your student in that goal. Please always feel welcome to reach out to me with any needs, ideas, or feedback!

Did you know that FISD has a mentoring program? If you are interested in becoming a mentor, you can find out more at our mentoring kick-off event. More information on our mentoring program can be found here.

The 2024-25 school year has arrived! Here are a few things to know and links to visit as you prepare for the year.

• Individual Counseling Request Form- Please fill out this form to request one on one time with the counselor.
• Group Counseling Interest Form- Please use this form to indicate your interest in group counseling for your child (fall form due 9/20, spring form due 1/17)
• Bully Report Form- Please use this form to report bullying.

Here are just a few things available to our Smith families:

• Weekend food bags to help meet food needs over the weekend.
• Long holiday food assistance to help meet food needs over thanksgiving, winter, and spring break.
• Hygiene packs to help meet hygiene needs including hair cair, lotion, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc.
• Clothing assistance

• Social Emotional Learning Parent Resources
• Parent Sanctuary and Lending Library- open to all FISD Parents
• Programs and Learning Events- Did you know our FISD special education department hosts family learning events and has parenting education videos available online? These events and videos are available for all families even those not in special education.
