Making Jesus Real (MJR) Gathering

This morning we held our termly MJR gathering. At this gathering one special student from each class (PP to 6) received an award for showing the spirit of Jesus in their life. The reasons ranged from, helping classmates when hurt or upset, using manners, showing gratitude, and even trying your best in everything you do. It’s a special award and one the recipients should be very proud of. To further recognise these special students they are invited to share a pizza lunch with me tomorrow. I am looking forward to sharing this special meal with our MJR recipients!

NAIDOC Week

Held across Australia from 6-13 July 2025, NAIDOC Week will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of our First Nations people. This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy. The theme celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of the young First Nation Leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors.

This Week, in recognition of NAIDOC Week, our classes have participated in activities that celebrate the history, culture and achievements of our First Nations people. It was also an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society. Activities included a NAIDOC Liturgy, Dance Presentation, Arts, Crafts and Music.

Holidays

Tomorrow afternoon, Term Two will come to a close for our students. There have been some wonderful learning opportunities for all students this term and I have been very impressed with the way they have embraced the challenges that have come their way. Please be reminded that Term 3 for students begins on Monday 21st July.

I wish everyone a safe, happy and enjoyable holiday!

Best Wishes

Parking and Drive Thru Arrangements

A reminder for everyone to be aware of our parking and drive through arrangements at the front of the school as the safety of our children is of paramount importance.

  • Vehicles will enter via the middle driveway on Tribute St East.
  • If you wish to park and leave your car to come into the school, please turn to the left and park in one of the bays adjacent to the Early Learning Centre or use the marked roadside bays outside the school.
  • When exiting the car park, you will do so at the exit closest to Vahland Ave.
  • If you are only dropping-off or picking-up, then please veer right and enter the drive-thru area. In this area you may not park or leave your vehicle unattended - it is strictly drop-off or pick- up only!
  • When exiting the drive-thru section you will use the exit closest to Tudor Ave.
  • Children waiting to be picked up are to wait on the verandah, under teacher supervision, and when they see their parent’s car enter the drive-thru, they may proceed down the steps at either end of the ramp and wait on the footpath adjacent to the bay where their parent has pulled up.
  • Children should enter vehicles from the curbside only to avoid passing vehicles.

Volunteering

The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. If you filled out the form last year you will need to do it again this year. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.

Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.

PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL

This is a friendly reminder for the instrumental students who have entered the Catholic Performing Arts Festival.

Letters were sent home last week with your child’s performance date and venue. Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from the venue on the performance day. Students are required to be there at least 15 minutes before their session. Each student is to prepare a brief introduction before their item including their name, school name and name of their piece of music. Please encourage your child to practise this beforehand.

All parents / guardians must purchase a ticket to attend the performance. Please note, tickets will not be sold at the door.

Tickets for the 36th Performing Arts Festival are available to purchase from 8AM this FRIDAY 4TH JULY. All ticketing links can be found via the Spirit of the Arts website https://www.spiritofthearts.com.au/performing-arts-festival/, under each festival section.

Good luck to our awesome instrumental students on the day.
