#ourcorgitale - October 2025
October Newsletter: Message from Crossroads Administration
Crossroads Parents,
Happy October! Our first quarter will be coming to an end on Oct. 17. Our parent/teacher conferences will be held in person on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 4:30-8 p.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Report cards will be discussed with you at the parent/teacher conferences and automatically published in the Focus Portal on Oct. 29. Teachers will reach out to you with how to sign up for a conference.
We look are excited about our Color Run fundraiser. If the students reach the goal of $35,000, Ms. Henson, Mrs. Tutterrow, and Dr. Fay will race while wearing inflatables! Oh my!
The safety of our students and staff are always at the forefront of our minds. That said, we are asking that parents and family members refrain from driving by and slowing down or stopping along the fence to look for their child on the playground. This can create concern for our staff and students as they may not recognize the car or the person inside it. We appreciate your help with this!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to myself, Ms. Henson, or to Mrs. Tutterrow.
Thank you! Have a great October!

A Huge Thank You!
Lifesavers: A student at Crossroads Elementary is safe today thanks to the quick actions of a dedicated staff team. When a student began choking on a grape, Instructional Assistants Katie Zink, Adrianne Rettinghaus, and Khristie Dorais immediately stepped in to help. Teacher Lindsey Remiger was able to dislodge the blockage while her colleagues sought additional help. We are incredibly grateful for the teamwork and composure shown by the Crossroads staff. Their fast response made all the difference!

Message From Nurse Teresa
Hi, everyone! Thank you for signing your kids up to participate in the dental screening and care programs that took place at Crossroads last month. PSP and Big Smiles will return for a second round next semester and dates will be announced closer to that time.
Vision and Hearing Screenings
We will start vision screenings on all students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5 the week of October 6. Hearing screenings will follow after vision is completed. Please ensure your kids wear their glasses to school as they will be screened with them on if they require correction. Please refer to the letter I emailed on Oct. 1 for more information and reach out if you have questions.
Emergency Medications
If your student requires an Epi pen or inhaler at school, you must annually fill out and complete the appropriate emergency action plan and turn it in to the nurse along with the medication (with attached prescription label). Please do this asap so we can help keep your students safe at school!
Illness Reminders
If your student is sick, please keep him/her home to avoid the spread of germs. If your student has a fever (100 F or above), vomiting, or diarrhea, he/she should stay home until fever and symptom-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications like Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

Rock Your School
Crossroads presents Rock Your School day, Friday, October 3. Dress to impress in your favorite rock gear from any decade.
Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
All car riders and daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
Important: Parents are no longer allowed to walk up to pick up their children. Please use the car pick-up line.
Bright blue car tags will be distributed at Meet-the-Teacher Night. If you are unable to attend, tags will be sent home with students on the first day of school. Please check with the office if you need a car tag. USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT.
When driving through the car lanes, please display the bright blue car tag on your dashboard where names can be easily seen. If you do not have a car tag, staff will need to check your ID, contact the office for clearance, and then call your child. This process slows down pick-up for everyone.
A few additional reminders:
Dismissal changes will not be accepted after 3:00 p.m.
Student safety is our top priority. Because 3:20 p.m. is a busy time, we cannot allow office checkouts after 3:20 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
If your child is a walker but will become a car rider due to inclement weather, you are responsible for notifying the school. We no longer send text messages about rainy-day dismissals.
