Perhaps you already saw the message below on the MAPS social media feed, but Franklin got some more exciting news this fall.

Big news for our school community! Both Franklin Elementary and Washington Elementary have officially been named Bright Spots Top Schools!

This national recognition honors schools that are beating the odds and leading the way in third-grade literacy achievement. We are so proud of our incredible students, dedicated teachers, and supportive families who made this happen. Way to read, learn, and shine!

If you do some digging through their different state graphs, you can see why we are so proud of our Franklin Falcons. (check out the MN graph below)

Once again this year the MSU Women's Hockey Program will be hosting 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from across MAPS during a specially scheduled game. Teachers and office staff have shared details previously, but here's one last set of reminders about this exciting opportunity.

MAVERICK HOCKEY GAME DETAILS

Date: Friday, Sept 25th, 2026
Where: Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center
Time: 11:00 a.m. puck drop (students may arrive between 10:20 and 10:45) and buses will need to leave the hockey arena to return students to their schools by 1:45 at the latest.
Grades: 3rd- 5th
Students will eat a cold lunch at the Mayo Civic Center during the game.

Perhaps you have heard a staff member or community member say that Franklin is a Title I School. What exactly does that mean? The purpose of Title I, Part A under the Federal ESEA Act is to supplement services to students to help them learn what they need to know to be successful on high academic standards. Franklin is one of many Title I schools in MAPS, meaning we receive additional funding to provide supplemental interventions or services to students. That money is used to fund additional reading intervention teachers as well as supplemental materials to help our students learn and grow.
