A Quick Look
- District financial planning and cost-savings measures beginning in the 2025-2026 school year
Key Items
Mr. Enix and Mrs. Rucker reviewed the history of the last six months of Board Work Sessions that focused on district financial planning. Topics included preparations for the November Five-Year Forecast, potential state funding implications of the upcoming biennium budget, and deficit spending beginning in our current fiscal year (2024-2025 school year).
Following the approval of both the Resolution of Necessity (December) and Resolution to Proceed (January), Huber Heights City Schools is on the May 6, 2025, ballot for a 6.9-mill continuing operating levy.
As discussed at the December Work Session, Mr. Enix brought forward a cost-savings plan to address the nearly $7 million deficit spending projected in fiscal year 2026 (the 2025-2026 school year), should the ballot issue be unsuccessful.
The comprehensive plan is estimated to reduce expenditures and increase revenue to offset general fund expenditures. The $7.7 million proposal includes the following:
Staffing Reductions:
Central Office Administration and Support - 9 Positions
Building Administration - 6 Positions
Certified Teaching Staff - 29 Positions
Non-Certified Support Staff - 28 Positions
Increased Pay-To-Participate Fees
Instituting a Preschool Tuition Program
Decreasing Building and Department Budgets
Academic Program Modifications and/or Elimination
Increased Student/Course Fees
Eliminating District Facility Use Rentals
The Board of Education will conduct a Special Board Meeting on Thursday, February 6, at 6 p.m. in the Studebaker Board Room to review the details of the cost-savings plan and provide an opportunity for community input and feedback.
