Technology Audit and Schedule
Our annual technology audit has officially begun! To help this process go as smoothly as possible, please keep the following in mind:
Asset Scanning: I will be visiting classrooms (primarily during your prep periods) to scan all devices with asset tags. This includes teacher and staff devices.
Chromebook Carts: Please leave Chromebooks in their carts, but unplugged/disconnected, as this speeds up the scanning process significantly.
Tech Support Requests: Please continue using the Tech Google Form for all tech issues or requests rather than emailing/telling me directly. I receive immediate email notifications for each submission and review them frequently.
Form Details: When submitting a request, please include your Name, Room Number/Location, and the Asset Tag Number(s) so a ticket can be created promptly.
Good News: Repaired Chromebooks are actively being redistributed to classrooms that need them! Once our audit is complete, we will have a clear picture of our overall inventory and where additional devices are needed.
Thank you for your support and patience!

3rd-5th Personal Health and Safety Education
Dear 3rd-5th Grade Teachers,
Ms. Jaclyn Smith will be working with the 3rd through 5th grade classrooms starting the week of October 26th. Teachers, this is not an additional prep and we ask that you support Ms. Smith monitoring students. Students will receive Personal Health and Safety Education as required by the CPS Sexual Health Education Policy. The purpose of this education is to build a foundation of knowledge and skills for all students so that they can make the right choices for themselves now and in the future. This curriculum will also give our students important tools to recognize and report inappropriate behavior in order to keep them safe.

More details can be found in the CPS Personal Health & Safety and Sexual Health Education Scope and Sequence and under “Parent/Guardian Resources” on the CPS website.
Throughout the unit, students will receive optional School to Home Connection activities to support their learning. These activities are not required, but we encourage families to complete them together. These activities can support important conversations between students and their parents or guardians.
In alignment with Illinois law, “No student shall be required to take or participate in any class or course in comprehensive personal health and safety and comprehensive sexual health education. A student's parent or guardian may opt the student out [of this education] by submitting the request in writing.” (105 ILCS 110/3). No student with a written parental objection will be penalized for refusal to participate in any such course. Parents will receive communication regarding how to opt out.
Safety Update
We have received our Go Kits from Safety and Security. We have noticed that the green and red cards are not in there. We will work on getting green and red cards. Please also be sure you have a list of students placed in the bag as well.
For student safety, no parents are permitted inside the Annex. Please redirect any parents to the Main Office to check in, and do not open Annex doors for visitors under any circumstances. In the event of student illness, notify the office directly. The office staff will contact parents and coordinate all early dismissals through the Main Office.

MTSS
From Two Weeks Ago....
Dear Teachers,
We are starting Cycle 1 on Monday, September 21st. Please remember, all Tier 2 and Tier 3 students need to have plans in Branching Minds for each subject area that they are in Tier 2 or Tier 3. Progress reports are going home this week. If a student is receiving a D or an F in a core content area- they must also have a plan in Branching Minds (make sure you submit a BHT referral as well). If grades are the reason they need a plan, please reach out to me for next steps. We need to determine if it is an academic content deficit or behavior related.
In Branching Minds you need the following:
Dates: Sept. 21- Oct. 26
Progress Monitor every two weeks (minimum) or weekly
Tier 2 should meet 2-3 times a week for 15-20 minutes each time.
- Add the intervention program that matches the deficit
Add the progress monitoring that matches the skill/ deficit you are explicitly teaching to the students.
You must be meeting with your students throughout the week in small groups to teach the deficit- this teaching should not come from a computer program (IXL, Freckle, etc) Those are tools you can use, similar to a worksheet or a book. But the actual teaching and learning come from the teacher.
Here is a deck that explains the Tiering process and refresher on how to add your plans in Branching Minds!
Middle School Teachers- please reach out to the advisory teachers to help support groups during that time. If you are teaching an advisory, please remember to dedicate time in the week to interventions in Reading and Math. We can be creative and share groups and kids amongst the grade level.
I will be around to discuss the groups and times I am going to be pulling with specific teachers. If you have any questions, need clarification, etc. Let me know and we can meet to plan this out.
Thank you for all of your hard work!
