Week of October 26

Hello Page Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the last week of October! We have a fun week ahead, with the Book Fair, Costume Spirit Day, and Trunk or Treat on Friday evening.

October has also been full of learning! Our students have been building their reading skills, working through math problems, sharing ideas, and learning alongside their classmates. I love seeing their curiosity, the pride they take in their progress, and their willingness to keep trying when something feels challenging. There is so much to celebrate in the everyday learning happening at Page!

A huge shoutout to our PTO for all the time, energy, and care they are putting into making Trunk or Treat a special night for our families! We still need volunteers to help make it happen. Please consider signing up and lending a hand. Every bit of help makes a difference!

Please reach out anytime you have a question, a concern, or something you would like to share. You can email me at teresa.collins@springfield.k12.or.us.Thank you for all the ways you support our Page community. We’re looking forward to a wonderful week together!

Together, we leave our mark,

Teresa Collins

Springfield want to hear from you

Springfield Public Schools is inviting families to complete the Fall 2026 Parent/Guardian Survey. Please take a few minutes to share your experiences and ideas. Your feedback helps our schools understand what is working well and where we can better support families, strengthen connections, and improve communication.

The survey takes 8–10 minutes, and responses are confidential. Please complete it by October 30, 2026.

Thank you for sharing your voice and helping make our schools a welcoming place for every family!

Talented and Gifted (TAG) Referrals Are Now Open!

Talented and Gifted (TAG) identification is right around the corner, and we are beginning to take referrals for our program. The SPS Talented and Gifted program assesses through district-wide tests and classroom work samples whether or not your student has the potential to perform 95%ile or above in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Intellectual giftedness in relation to their peers. The 95%ile means that if your student were in a line of 100 students their same age, they would know more than the first 95 students in line. These students are at the top of their class and typically above most students in their entire grade level at school, and require more advanced work to meet them at their rate and level of learning to keep them challenged.

Teachers, families and specialists can all refer students for identification if they feel they meet the criteria. Students must be referred for screening no later than February 6th in order for TAG contacts to be able to gather data for the upcoming testing session. After you refer them for screening, the TAG Contact will work with teachers to examine current data for the screening and be in contact with you about whether or not the student qualifies for further identification procedures and assessments. If your student qualifies, the TAG Contact at the school will share with you a few forms to begin filling out for your student to gather additional data and will provide additional information about further assessment.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your school’s TAG Contact: Brittany Adair at brittany.adair@springfield.k12.or.us

A Big Crunch at Page! 🍎

On Thursday, our students joined the Big Crunch, a Farm to School celebration of Oregon farmers and locally grown foods! Each lunch group counted down and took one big crunch together. Students tasted a delicious apple called a Dragon apple. With a name like Dragon, it brought a little extra excitement to trying something new! Ask your child what they thought of it and whether they would like to crunch into one again!
