This message was sent out earlier this week:

Arcade Middle School is committed to celebrating and honoring our diverse community of students and staff. Arcade is home to students of many religions, and one of the most common faiths on our campus is Islam. Many of our Muslim students and their families observe Ramadan as part of their faith.

Every year, Muslims observe a holy month of worship called Ramadan. Many fast each day of Ramadan from dawn until dusk and engage in prayer several times throughout the day. The Islamic calendar follows a lunar cycle; therefore the dates can differ from place to place based on moon sightings or lack thereof. The day after the end of Ramadan is a religious holiday called Eid-al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting period. This is a celebration in which families come together to enjoy a meal, exchange gifts, and attend prayer at their mosques.

This year, Ramadan began the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026 and is observed until the evening of Thursday, March 19, 2026. Day subject to change as the date is based on the lunar cycle.

We are offering grab-and-go sack lunches and breakfasts to students who wish to take a meal home to eat when they break their fasts. Students who are fasting during the day can pick up a meal of lunch and breakfast during the last 10 mins of each lunch period.

In addition, we will be accommodating those students who wish to pray in a private space.

1st Lunch: Students may participate in prayer beginning at 1:20 PM. Students must have secured a special prayer pass from Mr. Ali or Ms. Wahida.

Prayer pass students should be back to class no later than 1:40 PM. First lunch students MUST show their teacher the pass to go to prayer.

2nd Lunch: Students may participate in prayer during second lunch. Prayer will be held in the private area on the stage.

Arcade staff is dedicated to supporting our students and their needs. Please contact the front office at 916-971-7300 if other accommodations are needed for your students.

We value all our students and strive to make Arcade a welcoming environment for all.

Thank you for Being Spartan Strong!

Arcade follows the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, which creates an environment that allows all students to thrive. As part of that framework, teachers acknowledge students who are exhibiting Spartan Strong behaviors, being kind, safe, and responsible, by giving them a Spartan Strong ticket.

Congratulations to our winners!

In addition, every Friday, we run a student store that exchanges Spartan Tickets for snacks! This is another opportunity for students to use their tickets they've earned for being kind, safe, and responsible.

Thank you, Spartans, for being kind, safe, and responsible!
