A Note from the Principal
Hello May!
As we enter the last month of the school year, we have so much to celebrate as Timber Ridge Rangers!
This month will fly by! Learning is still happening in classrooms and expectations are high. However, there will be a lot of fun and memorable events as well.
Please help us keep everyone safe by being mindful of the End of Year event procedures listed below. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure our students' safety and security while celebrating and honoring their hard work all year.
Thank you for your ongoing support—together, we make our school community stronger!
In partnership,
Stephani Grisham
Timber Ridge ES Principal
End Of Year Event Safety Message
As we close out the school year, we have planned a few meaningful end of year events to include Field Day, Academic Awards Assemblies, Kindergarten Graduation, and Fifth Grade Celebration Ceremony.
To support safe and orderly event and school operations, the following procedures will be implemented:
All visitors should be prepared to show a valid government-issued ID before being granted entry. Sign-in will be required at each event. Please be prepared for a line and be patient.
Access to event areas or the campus may be limited to invited visitors or volunteers. Access to the campus may be restricted depending on the event. For Field Day, no visitors will be permitted inside the building. Visitors should plan accordingly. For the Academic Awards Assemblies, Kindergarten Graduation, and Fifth Grade Celebration Ceremony, access will be limited to the cafeteria. Visitors will not be permitted in the hall or classrooms.
Students may not be signed out at the event site. If a parent/guardian decides to sign out a student after an event, they must go to the main office through the front entrance. Please be patient as classes need time to return to the room.
Details for each event will be sent separately.
We appreciate your support and cooperation as we work to provide a safe and memorable end-of-year experience.

What are we learning?
ECSE - 3 Year Olds
ECSE – 3 yr. old class is about to begin their last unit for the year, they will be studying Pets. This study uses children’s love for and interest in pets to support social-emotional development around concepts such as showing affection, being sensitive to other’s needs, and developing lasting friendships. Children explore materials used to care for pets, create their own shelter or pet store, and learn about the importance of caring for the pets in their families or classrooms.
1st Grade
It’s hard to believe we’re in the final stretch of first grade! May is a time full of learning, growth, and celebration. Here’s what’s happening in our classroom:
Reading and Writing: We are working on reading comprehension strategies, focusing on asking and answering questions, retelling stories, and understanding the main idea.
Students are learning how to write “how-to” pieces—step-by-step writing that teaches others how to do something.
Math: We’re learning about Personal Financial Literacy! We’re discussing needs vs. wants and how to make smart money choices. Students are learning about earning, spending, saving, and donating money. Ask your child how they would choose to spend or save a dollar!
We are also reviewing key first grade concepts like addition, subtraction, place value, and telling time.
Science and Social Studies: In science, we’ve just finished learning about life cycles and the structures and behaviors of animals. Now we’ll spend time reviewing all of our science topics from the year. We’ll be exploring history in social studies, including important historical figures, inventors, and how transportation and communication have changed over time.
Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of your child’s learning journey. It has been a joy to watch each student grow this year. Let’s make the most of these last few weeks!
Warmly, First Grade Teachers
Skills Unit
The Skills unit is working to enhance our functional skills and knowledge we have gained this year. We are excited for our upcoming on-campus field trip, May 9. This field trip is sensory based to give our students the opportunity to experience new sensory friendly games.
Parent and Teacher Partnership
Timber Ridge ES is committed to frequent two-way communication with families about their child's learning. We value and appreciate your partnership as we collaborate to ensure growth and learning for each student. If you have a concern, we ask that you allow us the opportunity to investigate and respond. If the concern is about a classroom situation, we ask that you first attempt to resolve the concern with your child's teacher. If you still have a concern after speaking with your child's teacher, please feel free to reach out to an administrator and we will be glad to assist you.
