Fall fun is in the air, Comets, and October is bringing two can’t-miss celebrations! First, lace up your sneakers and get ready to cheer at Field Day on October 23—but we need helping hands to make the day a winner, so please consider volunteering to help our students run, play, and shine! Then, grab your costumes and candy buckets for a frightfully fun Trunk or Treat on October 27, featuring festive trunks, sweet treats, and plenty of Cox community spirit. Let’s make both events unforgettable!

We just received an award for 100 members, to make us 65% of our membership goal this year!
The Cox Elementary PTA is a community of parent volunteers, teachers, staff and students working together to make our school an even better place for every child. The PTA supports school events, provides resources for teachers and classrooms, enriches students’ experiences, and helps bring our school community together. Parents, grandparents, and even students can join! Membership is just $15 per year and needs to be renewed each school year.

🎃 Trunk or Treat & Fill the Cauldron 🎃
Join us on Tuesday, October 27, from 5:30–7:30 PM for a spooktacular evening at Cox Elementary! Enjoy decorated trunks, trick-or-treating, inflatables, music, face painting, delicious food, and lots of family fun! Costumes encouraged! 👻
We Need More Trunks!
Help us make this year's Trunk or Treat the best one yet! We're looking for more families, groups, or classes to decorate their trunks and pass out candy to our Cox Comets. Pick a fun theme, get creative, and help us fill the parking lot with Halloween magic! Plus, the PTA will provide some candy to help you get started! Grab a friend, decorate your trunk, and join the fun!
You can also help us Fill our Cauldron by donating candy for Trunk or Treat. The Cauldron will be located in front of the library.
Reflections Is Open: "What My Culture Means to Me"
Reflections is the National PTA arts program, and this year's theme is "What My Culture Means to Me." Cox Elementary students can enter in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.
New this year, entries go in right on our website! Upload the work and the entry form, and we take it from there. If your student would rather hand in a physical piece, we will scan and upload it ourselves, so no scanner at home is needed.
Important Dates:
- Entries Due: Friday, October 30
- Membership: Someone in the household must be a PTA member by Oct. 31 for entry
- VRHS PTSA Results: By November 18th, winners move on to the LISD Council of PTAs
- LISD Council of PTAs Results: January 15, winners move onto Texas PTA
- Texas PTA Results: March 15, winners move on to National PTA
- National PTA Results: May 1st
We also need judges for the first week of November. If you work in the arts or just love them, email us @reflections@cox-pta.org. Everything, including the official rules and entry form, is at cox-pta.org/programs/reflections.
Thanksgiving Pies & Lunch Volunteers
🥧Any way you slice it, we're THANKFUL for our Cox Elementary teachers and staff! Please help us send them off for Thanksgiving break with a pie to take home.
Please click here to sign up to donate a pie. Prefer we do the shopping? Venmo us & write 'pies' in the comments. Drop-off for pies at front office: Wednesday, 11/18 or Thursday, 11/19 during school hours.
🦃 The school is also in need of volunteers for Thanksgiving Lunch. Please consider lending a hand to set-up, support registration or the cafeteria day-of, or clean-up! 🦃
Cox Comets, Let’s Give Back!
Did you know that the LISD Clothes Closet provides free clothing and essential items to LISD students and families? Every LISD family is welcome to use the Clothes Closet — there are no qualifying requirements!
Now we’re looking for our amazing Cox Comet parents and families to volunteer and help make a difference across our community. Volunteers help sort and organize donations, stock the Clothes Closet, and keep everything ready for families who need it. It’s a simple way to give back, meet other wonderful LISD parents, and see the impact of your time firsthand. Please click on the sign up link, every helping hand makes a difference!
