Happy Friday Mustang Families!

It was a great week at Cliftondale! Please see our school updates for the week ahead:

  • BRINGING CONSUMABLE FOOD/CANDY TO SCHOOL: As we approach the upcoming holidays, it is important to remind parents and families that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent National and State reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications that have been shared with other students that contain very harmful substances.

Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!

  • ·TRUNK R TREAT will be on Monday, October 30th 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm OR we run out of candy. MANY THANK YOU’s to the many families that have contributed to this effort! Without you, this event would not be possible, and I thank you! For Trunk ‘R Treat, parents should park using our front parking lot. Parents will escort their children through the line of cars. *Only store-brought and pre-sealed candy treats will be distributed. All parents should still check/review all candies before student consumption. **All students attending will be dismissed via his/her normal mode of transportation as students are not permitted to stay after school to attend. Parents/Guardians must accompany their student to the event. Please do not drop off your child and leave.

  • BOOK CHARACTER DRESS UP DAY: On Monday, October 30th, students may wear school appropriate costumes to school as it’s Book Character Dress Up Day as we are Hooked on Books Not Drugs! Students ARE NOT PERMITTED to bring or wear any of the following to school:

    1. Any scary, gory, and/or bloody costumes.
    2. Costume masks of any kind
    3. Costumes that display offensive materials
    4. Costume accessories.
    5. Weapons and/or costume weapons, look-alike weapons, and any other unauthorized dangerous instruments such as guns, knives, swords, shields, etc.

Parents of students that do not adhere to the guidance provided will be asked to bring a change clothes OR clothes from our Clinic will be provided. Any masks and/or look-alike weapons will be confiscated and returned at the end of the instructional day.

  • ·FUNRAISER PICK-UP: Thank you so much to the many families that supported our fall fundraiser! Pickup day is coming soon! Parents, all the fundraiser items will be delivered 🚚 to our school on Monday (10/30)! Your child’s order must be picked up on Monday (10/30) between 2:30-5:30 PM. There are perishable products, and we want to make sure they are all picked up since we do not have refrigeration available to store orders. You are welcome to send a neighbor, friend, older child, or family member to pick up your items if you are not able to make it. All they need is the student’s name and we’ll take care of the rest. Thank you for your support! We had a wonderful fundraiser and could not have done it without you!

  • 📌IMPORTANT-REMOTE LEARNING DAY📌: Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Remote Learning Day for all students on Tuesday, November 7th. Teachers and paras are not expected to facilitate asynchronous lessons to students. This means we will not facilitate live instruction on this day. All teachers are expected to send the compiled assignments home students by Monday, November 6th. Guidance for the work provided to students at Cliftondale: the work should be for reteaching/recovery, makeup/incomplete assignments, or students should work on their i-Ready pathway in they have access to a device at home.

Have a great weekend and we appreciate your continued support!

Please review Cliftondale's 2023-2024 School-Family Compact, Parent-Family Engagement Plan as well as Fulton County School's Parent-Family Engagement Plan by CLICKING HERE. Parents, school staff, and students partnered together to jointly develop the School-Family Compact and school Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP). This was done through input collected from feedback forms, surveys, and input meetings held annually in the spring. The School-Compact explains how families and teachers will work together to make sure all students reach grade-level standards at Cliftondale Elementary School.

All students above 10 years of age and their parents/guardians are asked to digitally sign the School-Family Compact in the Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal. Your digital signature acknowledges you have received, read, and agree to the School-Family Compact. Parents may CLICK HERE to access the parent and student portal in Infinite Campus. As you know, parent involvement is vital to your child’s academic success, which is why I am so excited to introduce a new learning tool to help enhance what I teach in the classroom. Over the course of the school year, we will be unveiling a series of parent units for you to complete so you are better able to help support their early literacy development at home.

These self-paced experiences, called Parent Units, are no more than 20 minutes from start to finish to complete. In the units, an easy-to-replicate strategy is provided for you to use at home. Each Parent Unit will launch monthly one at a time and will focus on different topics. We are kicking off the series with Unit 1 focusing on Oral Language.

I encourage you to take the time to complete these fun learning units, which can be found at the bottom of our school’s website and on the district website https://www.fultonschools.org/parentunits. Plus, parents will have the opportunity to earn a certificate for completing each unit!

Thank you for sharing your student with me. I look forward to partnering with you to give them the best education Fulton County Schools has to offer.

At Fulton County Schools, we prioritize student safety. Emergencies happen. When they do, preparedness is the key to handling them well. We ask that all parents or guardians who have not listed an emergency contact to update their emergency contact list to include one person who is not the parent/guardian. If the parent or guardian is not accessible due to an emergency, it is important that the school has an approved person to contact regarding your student.

Thank you for updating your emergency contacts at your earliest convenience.

Here are step by step instructions for updating your student’s emergency contacts and a link for doing so in the Parent Portal:

The consideration for gifted services may be reported or automatic as defined by the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. The Fulton County School System screens all students for eligibility for gifted services twice a year and uses a systematic approach to identify highly capable students who may qualify for gifted services. The gifted teacher routinely reviews available data to refer students for further assessment. Students meeting either the automatic screening OR the classroom screening criteria AND who have supporting data gathered from test history, products, and/or advanced content levels are referred for additional testing to determine gifted eligibility.
