Dear TECEC families,

A huge thank you to the TECEC Fathers Club for putting together such a fun Parents Mixer at Elicit Brewing last night! It was wonderful to meet new parents, reconnect with familiar faces, and spend some time together outside of our usual school routines. It was truly a fun evening, and it was clear to me that everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves. As for watching my Red Sox lose... that was definitely not a highlight!

If your child came home last week and told you that they “jumped out of a bus,” I can assure you that they were telling the truth! Last week, we practiced an important emergency bus evacuation exercise with all of our children and team. Members of our transportation department and bus company joined us along with our TECEC team to help the children learn and practice what to do in the event of an emergency. The children did a wonderful job and seemed to enjoy the experience. Practicing these procedures helps our students and team feel more comfortable and prepared should an emergency ever occur. A few photos from the experience can be viewed below.

TECEC is proud to participate in the Pink Pledge along with all the other Trumbull Public Schools. Our TECEC Pink Pledge Day will be Thursday, October 22, when all of our children are in school. The remainder of the district will participate on Friday, October 23. This important initiative raises funds to support women affected by breast cancer. I can speak on behalf of our TECEC team when I say that several members of our team and families have personally been recipients of funds that helped support them through the unimaginable journey of breast cancer treatment. This cause is therefore especially meaningful to our community. Information about how you can donate and support the Pink Pledge can be accessed below.

On a brighter note, the TECEC PTO Trunk or Treat will also be held on Saturday, October 24, from 2:00–4:00 PM, beginning at TECEC. More information about this fun family event will be forthcoming from our PTO.

Our annual TECEC Halloween Parades will be held on Monday, October 26, with a rain date of Wednesday, October 28. More information about the parades will be forthcoming. We are looking forward to seeing our children dressed in their favorite costumes! If you are in need of a costume please let myself know as our Fathers Club can be of assistance.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful to be part of such a wonderful school community and look forward to sharing these special experiences with our children and families.

Kind regards,

Matthew Wheeler

We have been busy in the speech rooms supporting the 3’s and 4’s curriculum themes. We had a fun September with the All About Me theme. Our lessons were created around stories including Time for School Little Blue Truck and Bedtime for Peppa. We finished our All About Me Theme this past week learning about body parts. In the speech room we used our hands and feet to pour, mix, clap, knock, jump, run and kick.

We are looking forward to a fun October filled with vocabulary around apples, pumpkins, fire/firefighter, and Halloween. Please use the link to access a fun Fall Vocabulary Scavenger hunt: Scavenger Hunt

TECEC parent/teacher conferences will take place in the afternoons of October 27 and October 29 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. In addition, we have an evening conference date on November 5 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. All students will be dismissed at 11:20 AM on those three days to accommodate the conferences. There are no afternoon classes those three days.

Conferences are a fantastic opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and review the progress made since the beginning of this school year. Conferences are generally fifteen minutes in length and designed to provide an overview of your child’s pre-readiness, social, language, and motor skill development.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15, honoring the rich cultural heritage, history, and significant contributions of Hispanic Americans. The month begins in mid-September to coincide with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua on September 15; Mexico on September 16; and Chile on September 18. The celebration also recognizes the diverse cultural contributions and connections of Hispanic and Latino communities, including observances such as Virgin Islands–Puerto Rico Friendship Day, celebrated in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

We love our volunteers! We love our volunteers!

One of the hallmarks of our program is parent and community involvement. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you with the best ways to engage with their education. We also encourage you to take the time to fill out the TPS volunteer form for the 2026-2027 school year. For most individuals, you will only need to complete part one (Tier one). This will permit you to volunteer in the school while in the presence of a staff member. Part two (Tier two) is for those who will be working with children not in the presence of a school employee. Since every volunteer will be in the presence of a TECEC staff member, there will not be a need to complete that section, unless you plan on volunteering in another school. This form has to be completed annually as mandated by the state guidelines for school volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, the form can be found here. and dropped off at TECEC so it can be processed. All submitted forms need to have an original signature, therefore a form with an e-signature will not be accepted.

Every Thursday is spirit wear day! Since many of our children do not attend school on Fridays, we thought it would be fun to have “TECEC Thursday” each week where everyone is encouraged to wear school spirit wear. If you don't have any TECEC spirit wear, feel free to wear our school color which is blue. You can also purchase spirit wear here: https://tecec.ptboard.com/
