École Maple ES Family Update

Week of December 16-20

École Maple ESFamily UpdateWeek of December 16-20

Hello Ecole Maple Families,

We are in our final week for the 2024 year! What a fantastic 4 months we've had learning and growing together!

Last week we were lucky to have many great events, including concerts, recitals, trips, and special classroom activities! Let's hope we have a full 5 days without Triboard cancellations this week (fingers crossed!).

This week we have lots to look forward to. Our Maple December Mayhem wraps up, which has been a school wide friendly competition to test our skills and creativity. The top class from each floor will have an opportunity to dress up the Admin team from a random assortment of clothing and accessories provided by each teacher! Stay tuned!

We are excited to host the Lasalle Secondary School Band this Wednesday morning for a school-wide performance!

Don't forget that this Friday December 20th is our school-wide Pyjama Day for those who wish to participate!

We are looking forward to another amazing week!

Admin Update January 2024

Maple Families:

We want to share some administrator changes that will be taking place in the New Year. Mrs. Fox will be Principal of Centreville and Newburgh Public Schools in January. We have appreciated Mrs. Fox's leadership and commitment to students, families, and staff while she has been principal at Maple. We will miss her positive energy and sense of fun. We wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter leading these two schools.

We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Deborah Thompson as Principal of Maple in January. Mrs. Thompson comes with years of experience as an administrator in various schools in Limestone. She is dedicated to student achievement and student / staff wellbeing. Mrs. Thompson wanted us to share with families how excited she is to join the Maple Team and she cannot wait to meet everyone!

Prepare for Winter-Related Bus Delays & Cancelations - Tri-Board

During the winter (roughly late October to early April), Tri-Board works closely with our school bus companies to determine if it is safe to offer school bus transportation on inclement weather days. School buses function differently than other vehicles and sometimes, although it is safe for the average family vehicle to travel, it is not safe for a school bus to be on the road.

SchoolMessenger App

Why Use the SchoolMessenger App?

When you join SchoolMessenger, you will be able to:

  • receive imporant information from LDSB
  • join classrooms and extra-curricular groups
  • report a student's absence (same day and in advance)

Reporting A Student's Absence:

The new student absence reporting system will let you use a mobile app, a website, or an interactive toll-free phone number to report an absence in advance. These options are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.

If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, our new SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, school office staff will follow up.
