August always brings a special kind of energy to Beebe School District. We began the month by welcoming our employees back for professional development, reconnecting as a team, and preparing for another year of serving students. Soon after, our campuses came alive as students returned to classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, buses, and activities across the district. There is nothing quite like the start of a new school year and the excitement that comes with seeing our students and families return.

This month also reminded us that even the best plans can change quickly. Thunderstorms, high winds, power outages, and severe weather created some unexpected challenges, but each time, our staff responded with teamwork and a commitment to keeping students safe. From administrators and teachers to transportation, maintenance, support staff, and everyone in between, it truly took all hands on deck. Those moments may not always make the highlight reel, but they say a great deal about who we are as a district.

As we move beyond the opening weeks of school, I am grateful for the way our employees, families, students, and community continue to support one another. August was busy, unpredictable, and rewarding all at the same time. Most importantly, it reminded me that The Badger Way is not simply something we talk about. It is seen in the way people step up, work together, and keep students at the center of everything we do. I am excited about what lies ahead for Beebe School District this year.

Human Resources Human Resources

Mrs. Shuttleworth recently hosted a breakfast with our teaching interns, providing an opportunity to connect, check in, and hear about their experiences as they begin the school year. The gathering was a great success, with positive feedback from our interns and meaningful conversation about the work they are doing in classrooms across the district.

We are proud to support these future educators as they gain valuable classroom experience and take the next steps toward beginning their teaching careers.

Special Programs Special Programs

During the 2025 to 2026 school year, our school nurses provided care through an incredible 52,986 student visits. That number represents direct student visits alone and does not include the many meetings, phone calls, health education, consultations, follow ups, and additional support our nurses provided to students, families, and staff throughout the year.

Our nursing team plays an important role in keeping students safe, healthy, supported, and ready to learn. Their work includes illness and disease education, chronic condition management, emergency preparedness, staff training, advocacy, community health resources, required screenings, and individualized healthcare plans.

Our nurses also implemented a districtwide Cardiac Emergency Response Plan and led the district's efforts to earn national recognition as a Heart Safe District through Project ADAM. As we begin a new school year, our nursing team is excited to continue serving our students, families, and staff and supporting healthy, safe schools across the district.

Curriculum and Instruction Curriculum and Instruction

The Badgers have returned to campus with excitement, energy, and a readiness to learn. Our teachers and staff members are just as excited to be back and have worked to ensure each student has a fun, engaging learning environment where they feel confident and grow throughout the school year.

As the school year gets underway, many curriculum resources and student learning needs can be easily accessed through the Beebe School District webpage. We encourage families to visit the Curriculum Page regularly for helpful resources, information, and updates throughout the year.

As we close out the month of August, students in grades K–3 will complete the state literacy and math screener assessments. These assessments give teachers important insight into each student’s strengths and areas for growth, helping us better understand how to support their individual learning needs. By identifying these needs early, our teachers can provide timely, targeted support to help every student get off to a strong start. Parents also have access to view their child’s reports and progress throughout the year. To view your child’s scores, you can visit the ATLAS Assessment page and click on the Students and Families button.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community! We are excited about the year ahead and all the learning, growth, and memories it will bring for all of our Badgers!

For additional support for learning at home, we’ve included a list of helpful family resources to keep you connected to support your child’s learning through the school year.

Beebe School District launched a new recruitment campaign to find additional bus drivers to serve our students and families. Through our Drive the Future campaign, we are working to connect with members of our community who are interested in joining our transportation team and playing an important role in safely getting our Badgers where they need to go each day.

Communications Communications

This August, Beebe School District officially launched SchoolStatus Connect as our districtwide communication platform. We are excited to share that every student in the district has at least one family contact connected to their account, and 95% of our families are actively connecting and interacting with the platform.

We are continuing to work toward SchoolStatus becoming the primary communication platform for families and students across the district, creating one consistent place for communication districtwide. As part of that work, we are currently connecting students in grades 7 through 12 to the platform so they can receive appropriate communication directly from their teachers, coaches, and other school staff.

While the SchoolStatus app provides a convenient way for families to view messages, announcements, and updates in one place, the app is not required to receive communication. Families will continue to receive messages through text and or email using the contact information on file.

If you have questions, are not receiving messages, or need assistance with SchoolStatus, please contact your building’s front office or Communications Coordinator Cortnie DeVore Byrd at cdevore@beebeschools.org.
