A Note from the Principal

Forest Hills Families,

Spring is here, and I hope everyone enjoyed spring break! Next week marks the beginning of ACAP testing. All students in 2nd-4th grade MUST be present for state testing. All students in grades 2-4 will also take the ACAP state assessment on April 12, 26, & 28th. It is imperative that students be at school and on time on for these assessments. We value gathering data on each student at Forest Hills so that we can best meet students' learning needs and also celebrate their growth and achievement. Please know that these assessments are required by our state and absences will not be pre-approved for these dates. You can support your child during testing by doing the following:

  • ensure an appropriate bedtime the night before
  • arrive to school early enough so your child can eat breakfast, or provide a healthy breakfast at home
  • encourage your child with positive comments and words of support
  • focus on having a positive attitude and growth mindset

To kick off testing, we will have a pep rally for our 2nd-4th graders Monday, April 11th! Be on the lookout for more information regarding that event. Should you have any further questions about testing, please contact your child's teacher. I am SO proud of our students and teachers and all of the hard work they've poured into this year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fowler, Principal

April Virtue-Positive Attitude

This month our students will be learning about the virtue of "positive attitude." They will learn that a positive attitude means we will expect the best and have positive thoughts. Some words that come to mind when thinking about positive attitude are: hope, enthusiasm, flexibility, and sense of humor. Here are some talking points to discuss at home with your child:

  • How can we have a positive attitude at school?
  • Can you think of a time when you felt down and discouraged? What made you feel that way? How could you have a positive mindset about that situation instead of a negative mindset?
  • Why is it important to have a positive attitude?

We are continuing to enjoy learning about virtues together! Thank you for talking with your child about these virtues!-Mrs. Fowler
